Reading back a bit, looking for confirmation.

Standard core skis can be made to be softer without sacrificing weight? Or for a rounder or more forgiving flex, should I go 50/50?

Or will either move Bring about the same more forgiving flex, just at different weights?

This question might get me laughed out of this thread but here it goes. Has anyone experimented with a 3 degree edge angle on the woodsman?
Backstory: East coast racer who has only been on FIS race skis or beefy front-side skis all my life until the last year. Moved out west, got a woodsman 96 for low tide Tahoe (aka right now), also have a pair of praxis concepts for powder (so the woodsman's won't be used in anything fresh). Absolutely love the Woodsmans, super fun, and respond much better than I expected for a "wide" "twin-tip". I am looking for a little more edge hold when relegated to firm groomers or icy bumps. Currently they are 2 degree and pretty sharp. Is this dumb? Will I ruin them? Should I just become a better skier? Or move back east? Literally the only complaint I have with the ski is looking for a bit more edge hold while railing an icy groomer, otherwise they are perfect.

New ski? A stiffer more directional Jeffrey with slightly toned down rocker profile? Something between a WD and a JEFF, lol.

I wouldn't stress between -1cm and -1.3cm. If that extra 3mm gave you confidence in terms of hole distribution, I wouldn't hesitate to push back to 1.3.

    Still testing this.

Should be. 184 mold just went back in and any open customs are pressed.

    It moved back 7.5mm.
Sidecut & core profile aligned for new mount.
Sidecut a bit tighter and touch more balanced, but the change is pretty minor.
New core layup with new composites, so lighter.

Woodsman is more Wren than Jeffrey. A stiff Jeffrey 108 mounted -2cm sounds likely to be more in line with what you are looking for, from my brief read here,

My new Jeffrey 108’s were built this way in the custom builder:
    Core profile = stock
Flex profile = softer (this where the “rounder” comes from on the stock core, as I believe it’s related to the glass/carbon layup)

In the notes is where is asked about making them closer to my Caylor’s in feel and response.

Not sure you’ll ever get the grip you are looking for with an ON3P. Look at the rocker profile. They are for sure soft snow oriented. If you need an ice carver in the quiver probably look elsewhere.

I have also found this to be the case. I think the layups might lack the torsional rigidity for truly firm snow. When my wren 96s are sharpened up, they pipe turns on edgeable groomers, but are still scary on real ice. The newer metal versions might be a bit better in this regard. Although they leave a little to be desired on groomers, the wrens absolutely shine off piste in a way a more traditional carver of the same width won't. You can't surf and slarve through variable mank the same way on a euro style carver.

I too, have Cat Camo ON3Ps. These ones are Billy Goat Tour 116s, 184cm, adorned with Moment Voyagers. I'm really hoping for more snow soon, so I don't have to core shot them on their maiden voyage.

Heh. So I can just ask iggy to re-create the 191 billy goat flex in exchange for money, and...he will just build it.

    Cool.

    Cool.
Even better -- ON3P keeps layup info on every ski they've ever made. You tell him you want a 12.13 191 BG flex, and I bet Iggy can reproduce.

    ON3P SKIS Discussion

Interesting comparison looking at the two side by side.

182 Woodman 108 vs 184 Billy Goat. Both on the line (ok Woodsman is like -3mm). WD108 has about the same front rocker line (starts at about the same spot from boot center) and splays a bit faster. About the same story in the tail. None of that is news really, just looking at my skis and wishing I was skiing.

I am usually not a fan of quoting pics - but holy hell, snowlerblades to one side, that wood veneer looks sooo good.

hehe - my bad - poor wording. Rephrased: I do not use my BGs at one of my two home resorts because the lower part of the hill is usually icy as shit and riding my BGs there scares the shit out me due to their limited edge hold on pure ice. That is fine - they are soft snow specialists, not wide skis that also slay icy groomers.

It is like they are made specifically for the other resort though, where they are simply amazing 90% of the time.

Agreed, but then again, you/davjr96 could just try if you think it would work. If it doesn't pan out then you'll still have a lot of base and edge to play with wrt to tuning it back to 2 degrees - aka the joy of extra thick bases and edges.

One binding is at the very edge of the acceptable adjustment range using the existing mount location. Forward pressure seems to be correct however. The new binding is also noticeably stiffer in operation.

One interesting thing I noticed. While the forward pressure indicator is often thought to be unreliable, it seems there's change in the heels on these new Pivots. On the older sets I have if you adjust fwd pressure too high the indicator will go past the marks (or you can just pull the heel piece back and get the indicator to pass the marks). On the new bindings, there is no rearward travel beyond the marks. If I pull back on the heel, you can feel a positive stop right when the indicator gets to the marks. It will not go past. Anyone else noticed this?

This question is from the end of October but...

I ordered Jeffreys on 10/17 and they were delivered on 12/3. Seems quick to me, with all the other ski building at ON3P going on during that time
