I’ve got 192 #4s we can use to A & B next time. Took Chicken’s C & Ds for a few laps- if you ski a BG the shape and ride is similar. They are nice! After strolling on the fatties in the am pulled the BGs out for their first ride of the season. They did a much better job of handling the ski area midday IMO. Cut up groomers with stashes at play - are their bread and butter!
Would like another go on the C&Ds in drier conditions. Was getting a lot of snow sticking to the huge shovels, loading the tips. Combo that with my early season legs and I was struggling at times..
Now I really want new C&Ds. My 192 protests are not tickeling my fancy at all. Would you say they are better than protests in cutup and traverses?
Cut up inbounds pow ... get the fkn BillyGoats.
I took a boat ton of skis to the shop for a grind so I was stuck skiing my BG's last night on the midwest ice groomers. So fucking fun. Really I feel that if God created a better ski he kept it to himself. My first set of BG was good but nowhere near as versatile as my 16/17's. I still run a 1/1 edge polished and maintained with a diamond stone like a good race dad and for me they rail just fine on anything short of bulletproof and when they do lose grip...no worries with however you decide to handle it. Just hang on and wait for calmer waters.
Another buddy brought out some W88's this past Sunday he bought used on here. He is mostly a metal topsheet Blizzard skier like me because of where we live but I think we have another convert. Sad that this ski didn't make the lineup this year.

Not a round trench I think.
Just thought it was cool. Skis are tough.
I'm thinking about overhauling my quiver which is just Kartel 98's and Jeffrey 114's. Been thinking that I could snag some Kartel 108's to replace both, put some touring bindings on either the Jeffreys or Kartels, and Pick up some Kartel 116's or Billy Goats for deep days. Having trouble deciding whether I'd want to toss tech bindings on the Kartels or Jeffreys. Anyone have experience or opinions?
Pretty much what you would expect. I can’t imagine anyone drinking the Billy goat cool aid disliking them. Same qualities. Easy to smear, surfy and loose in 3D snow. Straight line or slash, whatever. Stable AF on landings. Not fun in icy large bumps. Super fun in small soft bumps. I think I’ve said all these things about billy goats at one time or another. Definitely glad they are the tour layup. They don’t need more mass.
I’ll try to get some helmet cam footage together from today.
No question this is the ski I would take to Japan.

Tele Wren 108s and 98s. Tons of tail rocker and release w ease yet crave speed and the fall line all the same. I’d fear Kartels too playful even for a loose tele style. I prefer a flatter tail traditional shape but digging the wrens ease and playfulness without sacrifice of changeability. Not new news but not many flip flop opinions in these parts.
Uno mas
Newest ones.
I would love to A/B with the old, but I think the only place I’d prefer the old (if I can tell much difference in this setting) is super deep pow.
Edit for tuco - it HAS to be better all around, I think. 74cm of tip rocker isn’t necessary most of the time.
