Splat are you heading south and if so when?
How bout an update? Weather maps look good. I will be relocating next month and be able to give updates then.
so is the month of Sept too late? I should be done with work no later than the first week of Sept, but I won't know exactly until early August.
Putting the "core" in corporate, one turn at a time.
Metalmücil 2010 - 2013 "Go Home" album is now a free download

Pull the trigger and join us! September is typically one of the better months, normally starts off with a storm sometime during the first 10 days or so, then enters an incredible corn cycle- plus it's low season so prices are more attractive and plus the snow pack should stablize for schweet touring options. re: The Broken shoulder- right, Kellie!
Skis more like late March for NA, but snow does can have a tendancy to be inconsistant like the rest of the Southern Hemisphere.
edit: I foresee Captain Hop making many ladie friends at the clubs if he shows up like Baker closing day (and with his corn dog)
edit2: catredal today looks reaaaaaaaal gooooood!

My peeps tell me 1.5 meter (5 feet) in Las Lenas so far. Cannot be confirmed yet but I bet by tomorrow we will know more.

just got an email from a friend who lives very close to Termas de Chillan....
"...It's strange, we just bought and built our place here last year and in May of 2004 there was no snow here....right now we can't even leave our house, we're in the middle of a snowstorm like I've never seen before.....the snow here at our cabins is about 18 to 20 inches , about 1/2 meter, deep and still snowing..."
it could be double that up in the mountains!
I was wrong. Just got this email this am from Las Lenas Mt Manager.Originally Posted by skideeppow
Yesterday 150 cm in base and close to 3m on top. Cold snow so we will see how it packs out. I should go to LL next week and check out those new pow skis.

Anyway - my tickets are booked. Flying into Buenos Aires on Aug 15, leaving via Santiago on Sept 3. Will definitely be spending time in Bariloche/Catedral (possibly doing a ski ascent of Mt. Tronador), and hoping to get to Las Lenas as well.
Thinking back to those maps I had in Mammoth, eh?Originally Posted by skier666
