^^^ I've got a 21 Silverado 1500 with the baby Duramax. Really liking it so far. Do about 25mpg around town. I've pushed to over 36mpg on the highway going 80. I think the '23 and later has the newer engine too. If you don't mind donutlynx, what were you out the door at for that bad boy, really like the Trail Boss.

25-26 mpg around town seems about right based on the last couple of days. Engine purrs along doing 75-80 b/w 1500 & 1800 rpm on the HWY. Smooth ride.

Yeah the '23+ have the LZO baby Duramax. Bit more hp and torque. $55K out the door. I got the Custom trim, so no frills. But almost as fancy as my '10 F-150 XLT, and much more tech savvy.

^^ wife has a 22 Suburban with the Duramax. It’s honestly a pleasure to drive and getting 26mpg in a suburban with 33” ATs is wild. The torque curve is killer…very similar to the 5.3 except there’s no decrease in torque as the tach climbs.

Only thing I hate about those chevys is the magnaride shocks. They suck and also fail. I ripped ours out and put regular Eibachs in.

Yeah the Rancho suspension on this Z71 kit leaves much to be desired. I foresee suspension and tire upgrades in the near future.

This is very interesting. Good info, especially for those here w/ new trucks. Lots of good diesel info.

I think Timber would be frothing at the mouth over Dave's service interval requirements to stay within his warranty

    So who needs a well-maintained 2010 F-150 XLT 4WD supercab/standard bed w/ 5.4 V8?

55 out the door seems good. I was 48 on a LTZ in Dec 20 for a 21. Just got new shoes for it last week. I really like how the Trail Boss looks with the black vice chrome accents.

26 is really good. Driving my wife's Yukon Denali gasser around town is a different story.

New truck day, almost 3 months apres ordering it my new Tundra showed up, double cab/ white / TRD it sure drives nice , the Tundra has ass loads of power and all kinds of goodies, I love it

I can't complain too much about the 2019 Tacoma i traded but of course i still do, I wasnt really thrilled about the way the Tacoma carved turns, I didnt like the way it dropped 2 gears and screamed in 4th at highway speed.

part of the problem might have been the Tacoma cost > twice as much as the Ranger it replaced but it wasnt twice as good,

a buddy of mine who had the same ownership profile agreed

Once again I highly recommend the OTT Tune for Tacomas and 4Runners. Best $400-600 upgrade you can do.

If you do the OTT tune they will return it back to factory for free at any time.

800 mile range via swappable pressurized hydrogen tanks. Mostly posting this because it’s cool that Jim Glickenhaus himself is answering questions in Comments section.

Alright, I need some input on what truck should I keep. Here is the dilemma:
Currently have a 2015 Chevy 1500 crewcab standard bed with the 5.3 (yes with AFM, but it has never given an issue). Clean, no significant issues, fits the family well except for the odd trip that we push the GVWR pulling trailer and truck loaded. Alright on fuel but not great. <100k kms.
Available to me is a 2001 Dodge 2500 extra/access cab with the 5.9 diesel. Long bed, only 220,000kms. Transmission replaced about 80k ago. Good on fuel for a diesel, body in good shape (farm truck but no rust and well maintained with a few booboos)

Should I keep the gas chevy, or swap over to the dodge. Not a real dodge fan for reasons other than the drivetrain, but most of the gremlins have been sorted out. Chevy is worth about $25k, the dodge about $18-20k. I’ve never worked on a diesel myself, always owned gassers, but have maintained diesels in the work fleet (which means I read the maintenance scheduled and brought it to the shop when needed). Trim on both is about the same, with the Chevy having the newfangled info/ent. screen. Less cab space in the dodge but more in the bed. Would likely have to find a cap for it; Chevy has a cap.

    What say the collective?

Depends what you need for your lifestyle...

Chevy better daily driver, family hauler, part time light truck stuff.
Dodge better heavy tow, haul rig, not more than 2 people.

Hah. I know the dodge sentiment and mostly agree. But I do know this dodge, hauled big boats with it, and the engine will last far longer than the Chevy 5.3.
The expected needs is the hard part. Almost wish to have bought a 3/4ton back in 2015, and might still end up there.

    But ya, older dodge.

Keep the Chev. I have a similar Dodge but with a lot less miles. A true crew cab and plastics that are 14 years newer are worth something.

I'd stay away from the dodge. If the 5.3 motor goes to shit a replacement is cheap too.

Ditto. I love me an old diesel but for a DD where I've gotta haul a family? Hard pass.
