New Armada looks a lot like our QX56

I own a diesel ML 250 Bluetec. 2.2L turbo diesel. I avg about 34 MPG with it. Runs quiet, and has that diesel torque that is just awesome. I'd love that engine in a mid-size pickup, or even that 3 liter diesel they mention in the article on the new MB truck.

Hoping for a Cummins powered one.

Im out. Unless there is a twin turbo V12 AMG one. Ill only take a Kubler built V12.
I am pretty locked on the 2017 Armada... My wife is currently driving a 2012 Limited 4Runner and we're pretty set on getting another one until we saw the new Armada... She has wanted a full size for a while and never really liked the Sequoia and swore I would never buy American again... Definitely digging what Nissan has done with the new update on the Armada...

Chevy High Country Duramax. First two oil changes were free. Next one is $110.

Damn. Why? Diesel-specific reason I assume?

I've got an oil change coming up for my 4Runner that's the first out of the free Toyota Care. Trying to figure out what I want to do with it because you have to take the skid plate off the oil pan to change it. I take my beater Civic commuter car to Jiffy Lube, but I don't really trust those guys to not lose skid plate bolts and otherwise screw things up.

And, yes, I'd do it myself but at the moment we're in a condo with no garage and no place to store car tools.

Yep, diesel specific. Rotella oil, big filters.

Only good thing is that it looks like distance between oil changes is around 8,000 miles.

Even at $110, till cheaper than the last Corvette I had.

    Take it to an independent.

If its gen 5, there is just a small 10" panel on the bottom of the oil pan that needs to be loosened and then can be swung to the side or removed--very easy...if yours has an honest to goodness skid plate on it, yes that needs to unfortunately be removed to get at the oil filter...the model I have has a 40# hunk of aluminum that comes crashing down on your head when the last bolt is undone.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. There's a local shop that's done good work for me on my old Cherokee. Just damned expensive (location). And of course it's zero weight oil too.

It's a 5th gen. Pretty sure that to get at the filter you actually need to lift the truck a bit to get sufficient clearance to drop the skid that's hinged at the front. The metal tabs are so long that it won't come off without jacking the car up (or driving it over a workspace).

I suppose it could be worse. It could be a diesel or a Vette.

My independent will let me bring in my own synth oil. It all depends on who finds the better pricing.

Is beer drinker thinking about replacing his new tlc with an armada?

It must be different on yours. I have a Turd Pro. The skid plate will come off with the truck firmly on the ground. The older engine (before VVT and regular gas) with the filter on top was breeze. This one, not as easy, but it's not too bad once you wrestle the skid plate off. I've been buying Royal Purple 0w-20 on Amazon in bulk, seems to be cheapest way as they don't stock at the usual suspects near my home.

I'm going to tangle with changing the diff oils this w/e so I'll have a stinky pinky for a while.

    Interesting. Mine's a 2013 SR5.

Good tip on the Amazon buy. I'll check it out. Costco's an easy option for me too.

Or a BMW... My company Subie and my wife's 4Runner are easy breezy when it comes to oil changes... My BMW 550 sport is another story... I could feed a small family for a week for what one oil change costs...

My dealer charges me 39.99 for oil and filer on my Tundra, plus a free car wash. Can't do it cheaper myself, give them a call you may be surprised.

Plus my Tundra has a cartridge filter that takes a special tool to access and I don't trust Jiffy lube or whoever to have/use said tool.
