Can you name the truck with four wheel drive,
smells like a steak and seats thirty-five..

edit to add: The license plate really ties the whole thing together.

For you Rivian owners out there, you may already know this, but don't dent your car.

    https://www.thestreet.com/electric-v...o&cm_ven=YAHOO

Ohio R1T owner Chris Apfelstadt took to his Rivian owners' Facebook group in February 2023 to report similar damage that resulted from a rear-end collision. Unlike the owner serviced by the Dent Slayer, Apfelstadt was given a final repair bill of “over $42,000” from a Rivian-certified repair shop.

YouTube electric car personality and Tesla modification enthusiast Rich Benoit, better known as Rich Rebuilds, reported in May 2023 that he faced a repair bill of $37,475 after a rear end collision damaged the same body panels on his Rivian
These expensive repair costs are the result of an unfortunate design flaw of this truck. The steps taken for the sleek and futuristic design of the R1T to separate itself from run-of-the-mill pickup trucks results in certain complications when it comes to collision repair.

“You have to understand how these vehicles are made; this isn’t a bed like a normal pickup truck, this is more like an SUV. The quarter panel […] is tied to the cab of the truck, it goes all the way across the roof across the vehicle, all the way to the rear view side mirror,” explained Boyette in his video. “In order to replace this panel, all that has to be cut off; the back glass has to be taken out, the panoramic roof has to be taken out, the windshield, the battery pack has to be removed. There’s a lot of disassembly that has to occur in order to for this to get fixed the conventional way at a body shop.”
    Design flaw indeed!

Can’t imagine a bumper or quarter panel replacement costing more than a new truck..

I have a 2012 Tundra and holy shit.....worst lights ever. I have buffed/used the lens restorers etc etc a few times. They look ok for a week, but even when crystal clear these headlights are just not good. In rain or snow at night. Sketchy at best. I used to have an Audi with HIDs and I think those lights ruined me. Those were amazing. These are scary. There are tons of replacements online. Anyone done this or have a recommendation? I'm not trying to make the truck look cooler with some kinda of fancy chrome looking super badass AZ lowrider LEDs. I just want bright clear lights.

(As you know) I have the same truck and I think the lights are great.

Dumb questions: how's yer aim? You ever fiddle with the little headlight leveling dial to the left of the steering column? Which bulbs do you have, and are they installed straight into the housings?

I have owned this truck since 2018 and am the second owner. I swear the little headlight dial aim adjuster doesn't move at all. I assume bulbs are straight into the housings.....as in seated properly? Pretty sure I have some kind of sylvania nice but not crazy high end bulbs. Maybe I need to just buy the most expensive bulbs?

Drove all of trail creek last night in the rain/dark after an epic West Pine MTB loop and fucking hell. Even my highbeams seem kinda low.

I guess I'm old or something. I realize I rarely drive at night, but now were moving a bit outside of town and will be driving dark roads at night.

i've seen a little chatter about this stuff. unsure about performance, have never used. BUT, i have a 2008 subaru that needs another restore and maybe some film to keep the lights clear.

I've used aftermarket LED bulbs in vehicles that came with halogen reflector headlights, and IMHO they are a big improvement over halogen. Biggest criticism people have of doing this is excessive glare to oncoming traffic, but this varies depending on the vehicle's headlights - some had a lot of glare, some minimal and comparable to some OEM LED headlights that are harsh (Acura comes to mind).

Get the type of LED bulb with a chip on each side and can be adjusted for rotation if necessary, and be sure the chips are at 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock. I like the bulbs without fans - I don't think they're necessary and they're quiet.

I'm using these currently, and had them in another vehicle also. No flickering or dimming, no stereo interference. They do cast some odd shadows within the beam, but IMHO it's a worthwhile tradeoff:

Amazon is a good place to buy and try, easy returns.

Dang, thanks for posting that link El Chupacabra! I just cleaned up and buffed the lenses on my '07 Frontier over the spring. They were so bad that my lights on bright were not much better. It's helped, but I was thinking I might want to upgrade to an LED set up but wasn't sure how to go about it. I'm going to buy a set and see how they do for this winter.

Just be sure to get the right bulb spec that matches your vehicle - H5, H6, etc. The plug terminal shapes and tabs differ on each.

Before you try anything else, throw those shitty auto zone lights in the trash and buy a pair of Hella bulbs from Amazon. Odds are they will be half the price of what you paid at an auto store.

10/4. Just checked the links and did a vehicle verification to make sure I get the right bulb type.

Before I bought a pair of used OEM LED headlamps for my truck, I ran LED "bulbs" from Amazon in the high beam only (with halogen low beams). It was a good compromise for the driving I was doing in Montana, with a lot of light on high but not blinding traffic when I went back to low beams.

If you decide to add supplemental lights, I'm super happy with the Diode Dynamics stuff I have. It's well engineered and well built; probably not quite the dollars per lumen ratio of Amazon LEDs, but if you want to get something with a proper cutoff they do offer such patterns.

On my old LC (1969), I opted for Baja Designs Squadron cubes in an amber driving pattern to augment the headlights. They make a huge difference.

My 2014 Shelby Baja 700 Raptor is in need of some love.
It has only 30K on it, but needs:
Two front 8 piston Brembos (pads and rotors)
    Two front axle arms
Rebuild two 3" King rear shocks
    New Tie rod ends
New front upper and lower control arms.
