    I'M RICK JAMES BEEEAAAATCCHHHHHH!
People should learn endurance; they should learn to endure the discomforts of heat and cold, hunger and thirst; they should learn to be patient when receiving abuse and scorn; for it is the practice of endurance that quenches the fire of worldly passions which is burning up their bodies.

I can imagine that he became a little crazy when he heard that line quoted to him for the 10,000th time.

There is "I'm Rick James bitch!" and there is "I'm rich Beeeaaatchhh!" the latter is associated Chappelle's production company and the former is, well, about Rick James.

O.k. Now to really clarify all of the previous clarifying.

At the end of his show where you hear someone say.."I'm Rich Beaatch" is not sampled from some band. He sampled a charchter from his show. The episode where the do the newscast about black people finally getting their reparations. The first character interviewed is the guy who bought a truckload of cigarettes STRAIGHT CASH. At the end of his little part he says "I'm rich Beaatch." Then he honks the air horn on the truck. At the end of Chapelle show when you hear the guy say that, you also hear the air horn a little bit.

    SO THERE....

Either way, it's the least funny overquote ever.

Stop saying it, unless you're actually Rick James. Bitch.
    It's idomatic, beatch.

I went to see him at the improv in Brea last year. Before the show, the announcer said anyone yelling that quote would be thrown out. Chapelle comented during his show how old it has gotten and that he couldn't even drive down the street without 10 people telling him that they are Rick James, bitch!

No way, he has no need for it. His 1st season dvd is the best selling tv show dvd set of all time, outselling Seinfeld and The Simpsons and he just signed on for $50 million for the third season.

Hes probably just depressed from smokin' too much weed.

He did release a statement last year that production of Chappelle's Show was being halted because his new Islamic beliefs wouldn't allow him to indulge in such base humor. Clearly this was not true.

I'm not saying this is a publicity stunt, however, as I really think he's probably just wigged out from being fucked all the time and doing so much (he's a pretty prolific guy). My $.02

I have also heard that he's a serious perfectionist... really likes to get his shit dialed. Thus you can imagine the stress he was under after the first two seasons and the $50 million contract.

Your thinking of his character Tron, who got hot in a dice game to displace Bill Gates as the richest man in America.

No. I'm thinking of the guy who came on before Tron. Who was driving the truck and talking about cigarettes. Same skit, different character.
