    Frame build-up on the cheap

How *cheap* could I build up a HT frame for, if I were to scour for deals and be able to live with used stuff? Let's say I used mostly mid-level components, like Deore LX stuff as an example. Is it still going to run up to $500 or so?

Can't decide if I should buy one already built or build it myself out of pieces. Probably already-built used is still the cheapest. Anyone?

Bike manufacturers will always get better component prices than you can. Buy a used bike.

Only if you live in an area with alot of yuppies. A well used bike is more trouble than its worth. A cherry bikepath special is well worth it. Be careful.

So true, but I have scored a couple of decent bikes from addicts.

How about just getting out and riding the bike you currently have, slacker...

    heh, heh

Check around on mtbr.com and more.org for folks dumping parts. I've picked up a few things on the cheap that way. If you need a wheelset, I have an old set of Mavic 321's laced to Specalized Stout hubs you can have, and I have a Selle Italia Max Flight Trans Am saddle I'd sell ya for $25 bucks (it's only been used a few times too).
Of all the muthafuckas on earth, you the muthafuckest.
