    Knee - no push off.

    Internet Doctors: diagnose me:

I've recently developed an issue with my left knee. It feels like I have no "push off" (if that's a thing). For example, if I'm going up stairs, I have to conciously push off with my left foot rather than just walk up. It doesn't happen all the time: just when I have added weight (i.e. ski boots) or added pressure (i.e. while running)...walking in shoes isn't an issue. Also when going down stairs, sometimes it feels like the knee will collapse....but hasn't yet. Again, not during normal use...just with added weight or running.

I occasioanlly have a ache on the outside of the knee, so I think it might be an ACL...maybe IT band...but I really have no clue.

Should I get a neoprene brace...something more substantial...wait for something to explode...quit asking people on the internet and see an actual doctor...

    Any help?
It makes perfect sense...until you think about it.

I suspect there's logic behind the madness, but I'm too dumb to see it.

I had similar symptoms a several years back. Eventually got so bad that the knee would buckle on upstairs or downstairs (not all the time, but enough to be alarming). Went to good sport Ortho in town and was diagnosed with bucket handle tears on both knees (don't know enough to remember if ACL/MCL, etc). Had both knees done via scope and was back on the bike 3 weeks later for recovery rides. Back to full speed 2-3 months later. AFter the surgury, the ortho said they were so bad that he was surprised that I could wait that long to get them done.
