Since retirement my father has managed to turn his hiking hobby into a bit of an obsession. He has been cranking them out and working through all the "lists" he can find around these parts. New Hampshire 48, done. New England 100 highest, done, Adk 46r, done.
He's now working on the Adirondack 100 highest, a miserable list that includes a bunch of long nasty bushwacks to wooded summits with no view or real payoff other than the sense of accomplishment for getting there.
But hey, to each their own.. he's enjoying his retirement the way he wants to!
I'd love to find something I could get as a gift that would help him in his journey, but he's so deep into this that he pretty much has what he needs.
Any ideas?
Crazy hikers.. what's your favorite piece of gear that most people don't have?
