Just saw that myself. I am absolutely in awe. Nice going Kelly - when do the rest of us get to play?

Pretty amazing. I wonder what it costs to ride it.

I think the idea is they will sell the technology to destination resorts. You'd better believe there will be one in Vegas soon.

Looks like a perfect wave, but I think they are limited on how quickly they can push out good waves like that. From a commercial standpoint (if you have paying customers), you'd want one at least every minute. But I think these good waves produce much less than that.

Fast wave.... it will keep the average surfer sitting n watching... out of the water. Slater looks super stoked.. good for him.

Am I the only one piecing together the clues, trying to figure out where they built this thing?

    +100 miles inland
    Cold enough for wetsuits
    Very calm in the am
Road accessible with some tall-ish trees.

I'm thinking inland, Central Coast. It looks an awful lot like the drive up 101 through King City. Could be somewhere like Scotts Valley too.

That looks insane. It might be blasphemous to say, but I am looking forward to surfing a wave machine someday.

I know right?? Why's it look so filthy? Think for slater they could have dropped some Aqua marine dye in there haha.

Nonetheless the perfection of that wave is amazing. Powerful with dead clean 30 second barrels. Absolutely incredible and a big boost in size and power from anything I've seen from the wave garden crew.

That camera angle is so awesome too... Neither the camera background or Keller are moving and this perfect wave is just peeling non stop!!

Pretty much the polar opposite is every conceivable way from the New Hampshire surf experience I'm used
    To.

While I can appreciate the work that went into this and the result I can not help thinking the effort would have been better spent on other things.

I am a kayaker/rafter on the rivers have experienced the ZEN of the wave in nature and this seems to disconnect with that.

Sidebar link says it's Cape Hatteras, NC. Water color is probably just humic acid if that location is correct. Very common in lowland areas in the southeast.

What other things should the effort be spent on? I can't think of one.

I surf, and there is a whole lot more than the zen of the wave in nature that goes into riding waves. A man-made wave would be incredibly fun, which is what this is about. It does not matter whether or not it disconnects with nature, because that is only one part of surfing.

I surf to have fun, first and foremost. This looks like fun.

Looks like the Reddit sleuths figured out it is a ski lake near Lemoore.

Water color could reflect a need to make the water more viscous in order to achieve the correct wave form. Either that or they just didn't care about making it pretty for the development.

Interesting. Lemoore appears to have its fair share of farming, so one would think there is plenty of chemicals in the ground water.

    Pismo surfers are stoked

Pretty amazing any way you look at it. Obviously this will never replace surfing in the ocean, but for motivated people/sponsors/teams/rich groms, this will be a game changer.

The water color is due to the viscosity of the water, as stated above.

The water color is because it was pulled out of the canal. Its irrigation water. And it is in the central California Valley
