Had to call it a day after three hours and get back to the office, so I guess I'm the first to report back in.
Damn, can this really be May 10th? It was full-on mid-winter up there. Everything was perfectly buffed out, all the bumps and trenches filled in, not much debris, and nice cold temp, buttery snow over it all.
Pulled in at 7:40, already a line forming. Saw some Bro Models, and recognized Tyrone, Slim, skier666? joining the line just behind me. Arty and freshies pulled in not long after that. Seemed like everyone was coming out of the woodwork. The crowd got antsy, as the bombing continued up high. I think they finally started boarding around 8:40 or so, and I wound up on the 9th chair.
Made a beeline right for Pete's Peril, but broke off early after seeing D chutes without tracks. Buttery, fast snow, just perfect. Sped across to Three Sisters and put a fresh line all the way down to the bottom. It was a really nice maiden voyage for the new stiff Bro's.
Hit Palisades next, and returned a second time with Arty and Tyrone. Ran into Darkside and a few other Alpine regulars. Then on to High Yellow, Keyhole, Lower Beaver, Art's Knob, again and again. Seemed like a lot of people out there, scrambling out the traverses and hiking over Keyhole, but there always seemed to be a fresh line in there somewhere.
What a morning. Great skiing with some maggots again, and I still can't believe this is May. FKNA.
