I would think the compounding isn't much different between the studdable and studdless. Regardless, it's better than a M&S rated AT or even an all weather tire.

I have the Hakkapeliita LT3. Forgot there's so many versions. It's available with or without studs and is the same tire otherwise.

Put them on and take them for a donut session in the snow at the ‘ol parking lot… you should find out quick enough what the grip level is. Nothing like good old real world empirical testing to come up with an answer.

Look at the DOT#. Last four is the month and year of manufacture. Industry standard is to al least inspect after 6 years, but you should probably replace. Many tire shops won't rotate or repair them if they are over a certain age.

Have you been running them every year, but just not a lot of miles on them? I have some 2017's and they get about 1,500 miles a year on them and look almost brand new. Rarely see anything but snow miles and work like new still as I drive up to the local hill and watch the buffoonery all round me with ill shoed AWD/4WD vehicles getting stuck.

I definitely notice that older tires grip worse, even if the tread is OK. The rubber just gets harder with time. Somewhere around 5 years old is around the time that I seem to notice traction dropping off, although it probably varies a bit depending on the tire and how they're stored.

The same goes for bike tires, for whatever that's worth.

Heads up that the geolander AT XD yoko I put on this season is the most underwhelming 3 peak tire I have owned. I wouldn’t recommend to even a person I don’t like.

Black pretorias with the summer tires are fine but they aren’t really my favorite wheels.

Silver Sport Edition generics with the winter tires, but I much prefer the spoke pattern.

To keep them purty wheels from corroding spray with Boeshield T9 or Mercury Corrosion guard ( for outboard power heads )

I even did my steel wheels cuz they get looking pretty bad from rust and there is issues swapping them
