    WTB: ice ax

    I was wondering if anyone has a ice ax that they are willing to sell.

    I am going to be spending a week in the Sierra's hiking and skiing and I want to have an ice ax with me.

    I thought that I would check here before I bought one brand new.

    I just saw a Petzl axe on sale in the REI catalog for $54.
    Seems pretty reasonable to me.

    go short if you are just packing it for the chutes. if you are doing much traversing you may consider a 70 or 75cm. if not, the 60cm should be fine.

    If you're still looking for an ice axe, I have an unused Camp aluminum. It's the basic model, I think the Zephyr. It's about 50 or 55cm long, perfect for couloir-ing and reasonably light. It comes with a leash, and I'll sell it to you for $30 plus shipping.

    It looks kinda like this, except with a blue anodized shaft:
