ENOUGH WITH THE GD VIDEO ADS!!!

Look, I'm in online advertising and I know the video ads pay out really nice CPM's, but they're fucking choking the shit out of these forums. I have a brand new computer with a shit-load of RAM and between all of the stash content and the video ads I still have to keep force closing my browser.

It was difficult to even post this thread.

I will defend that the stash content does not add that much to the page load - just a few graphics. That ad however is a different story. It's running several MP4's and SWF files simultaneously. It then uses z-index and absolute positioning to switch between the different video files. A poor design decision to be sure. The ad is being served through a third-party ad agency. They told us last week that they turned it off, but that is clearly not the case.

I would love to ax that third-party service altogether, but that's a financial decision, and I'm just your humble web guy.

I could not have TGR open or I could do nothing else - something changed recently with the forums and was causing freezing.

Added Ghostery add-on and now I'm not getting any ads and no problem.

Yeah, the stash content is fine since there's no pre-loading. The videos (or lackthereof) seem to be better today...

I could deal with the stash, blogs and floating top bar even - I just want to be able to easily embed youtube videos without them fucking up most of the time and would really like to be able to upload images and have them display the first time I hit publish. Not having to reedit my posts and republish the images multiple times!
