Anyone have beta on Mtn Bike shorts

I was looking for a freeride pair of shorts that have a great chamois, but are not like a dh short, lightweight and nice. Anyone know about the oakley ballistic? How is the chamois in there?
Any suggestions would be welcome.

DNA (Descente North America) is making some good shorts. The chammy is awesome and removeable as well. I forget the name, but this year I think they only have one baggie.
I personally prefer shorts without chammy, then you can wear the outer short for many moons without launder, but switch out basic $40 lycra tighties as needed.

I know SCOTT has a Chamois in there that is fancy design, going 4 ways, comfortable
but I have yet to try it out (broken ankle keeps me off bike at moment).

Friends of mine speak well of them.

I've heard great things about the Oakley Ballistic shorts, but I've never tried them so I can't comment. I will add a second vote for the Descente DNA shorts. I just got a pair and they are sweet. Great chamois, loose fitting, but still doesn't catch on the saddle. Very light material so they breathe well. My only complaint (and it's a VERY minor one) is that the tapes seams are a little stiff. They are on the pricy side though.

Do the Descente's come in that metal-foil type finish that their one-pieces used to sport? Cuz I wouldn't want them otherwise.

The materilal isn't a metal foil finish. It's a kinda matte nylon material.

my buddies oakley shorts blew up after one season. I say look at the lined sombrio shorts or some new nemas. I think the new nemas aren't as silkly on the shell as years past. My new swade roach shorts are blowing apart as we speak, older roach stuff is hanging in there. I think raceface has what your looking for. As others have said go baggies + chamois for best results.

As far as I know, "beta" used in this sense is purely slang, there is no official vocabulary definition that equates "beta" to "information". You can talk about beta particles, beta items in a data set, beta indicies as a measure of statistical sensitivity, but beta as synonym to data is purely a gearhead dork hardcore extremo outdoor dude fabrication.

edit to add: everyone lighten up in here. if the seatpostclamp pisses you off just ignore him. the one think i like about the bike forum is that there has never been any huge flame wars or shit like that which is commonplace in the ski forum. just ignore the guy and save your aggro jackass attitudes for july in the ski forum where you'll need it.

edit- specifically the Microsensor Chamois. It keeps my special area very comfortable.

now for me to get on topic, i have been using last yea'rs Nema Crown Jewels and i have to say i am not that stoked on them. they are meh at best. a pair of cutoff BDUs and pearl izumi tighties rides much better for me. i just picked up a pair of the Oakley 2.4 and am riding those tonight so we'll see how that goes.

Isn't this like a dh short? Is it super heavy or good for x cross as well as f ride?

they fit very well. the liner is very long, which i like, and they dont ride up at all. they fit and feel comfortable like a baggy should, but don't flap around or get caught on anything.

the only possible downside is that the waist is really not that adjustable. there are two snaps in the front and a little elastic loop and button in the back that you can use to adjust the waist size. i wear a 34, got the Large and they fit perfect on the tightest snap in the front.

and they look cool. and Cedric and Lopes wear Oakley so how can you go wrong?
