    I can Google, too.

    http://drjamielong.com/validation-5-things-not-to-say/

Conversely, invalidation is one of the most damaging forms of emotional abuse. What’s scary, it can be one of the most subtle and unintentional abuses. Denying someone’s feelings and emotional experience can make them feel like they’re going crazy! They leave the conversation feeling much different than at the start, questioning themselves.

Some individuals knowingly invalidate others as a form of manipulation, control, and psychological injury. Possible explanations (other than psychopathy) are: a low capacity for empathy and compassion, not understanding or valuing the importance of validation, and/or not knowing how to express it effectively.

Others may invalidate unintentionally. The well-intentioned invalidators often defend that the goal is to help someone feel better or differently — to an emotion they judge as a more accurate, more valid one.

Do I look like I need your approval? Lol. You are the one looking for approval when you post all about your undies and yoga pants.

If I wanted approval that's what I would do. I can play that game. I can make the boys feel good. I'm just done with that bullshit.

Please.... with those posts I'm making myself feel good and in the process hopefully putting a smile on a face or two. I call it having some fun at my own expense. This is the Padded Room after all and if I can't laugh at myself well then... life is dull indeed.

All the women I know have experienced the biases and poor treatment talked about in this thread. Some form of it happens every day for women. Recently, I was questioned at a border crossing when I was traveling because I had put myself rather than my spouse as head of household on the customs form. They thought it should be his name. How dare I think I could be head of household when I have a man in my life. When I applied for a Global Entry card, the US immigration official told me that I needed to bring my birth certificate and my husband in to vouch for my identify because I don't share my spouse's name, which is totally not required. He would never have questioned a man's right to his name. I had already presented him with the required information. He just wanted to exert his power over me because I didn't conform to his personal idea of the rules. I stood in his line for 45 minutes. I kept smiling politely and waiting until his line got so long that he stamped my paperwork because he was embarrassed by the length of the line. It's the small day-to-day things that remind women they're not considered equal citizens.

These a just a few examples of sexism women experience every day. Don't even get me started on the men who think it's their right to stare at and judge my boobs every day. Maybe some of the guys on this thread can help me find some shirts that will hide my body. /sarcasm Quite of few guys on this thread post on the NSFW threads. I wonder if that's where they hone their skills for telling women how to dress appropriately. Also, think about some of the TGR alias names and avatars on this very thread. They scream sexism. The Weinstein thread is full of sexist and disparaging comments from men about Weinstein's soon to be ex wife.

I hope that as a nation we wake up to the biases against women that run the gambit from rape to divorce settlements that result in a 41% decline in financial assets for women (http://www.gao.gov/products/GAO-12-699). Sexism includes day-to-day disparagement of women combined with unequal pay. Today, even contraception is under attack.

Oh, and I'm tired of the insinuations that women who talk about sexism must be crazy. Men use that tactic to shut women up, and it's belittling.

Most women I know have been sexually assaulted at least once. #metoo

Sorry for your all your pain.
The GAO article that you posted said "For example, women’s household income, on average, fell by 41 percent with divorce."

It didn't say that their financial assets fell by 41%.

    Good!
It makes you feel good when you post a picture of some other woman's ass and men remark on it? Strange.

Do you not think that everywhere, every day people can' see other peoples backsides? Should eyes be averted at the accidental sighting? Should clothing manufactures only be allowed to show clothes on hangers? Are derrieres dirty and nasty and not to be spoken of? It's a part of the human anatomy and I believe any pics I've posted have been with regard to what the individual was wearing like "what do we think of this pattern/style I'm thinking of buying?" not "what do you think of this ass?" Is it my fault that this page is populated by 95% men? Am I only allowed to ask women what they think of women's clothing? Funny... this sounds so... so... Talibanish.....

well i like to look at women back sides also but i do it on the down low and I don't say to the women I know " wow nice backside " because i want them to think that i think they are more than a back side cuz they are

but the www isnt really like that, there is no assumption that since we are all obviously looking at tits n ass there is no need to voice the obvious, no filter, no inside voice ... just tits and ass in yer face eh ?

I see you've stumbled upon the recurring theme. She won't think about anyone else's position and how it might be their very real experience no matter how much they attempt to consider hers. No ability to truly empathize, which is sad.

Sure I did and then I told you mine. I had to consider yours first to decide if it aligned with how I felt and when I found it didn't I offered up my position which you told me was wrong and hurtful.

I can see how you could spin it that way, but what you were really saying was shut up.

Funny, IMO what you're really saying is "I get to decide what you are saying"

No. What I'm really saying is that your talk of not caring about sexual harassment and condescending tone of "it's easier when you are older" is bullshit.

I am fully capable of a good happy life but that doesn't mean I will shut up about sexual harassment, abuse, rape and discrimination that is rampant in our society...

I'm saying this fucked up shit happens all over the place. You are saying yeah maybe but I'm happier ignoring it and I'm saying f that.

You used to be single, lots of time to ski and do shit, then you found someone, became an item, living together, married, estranged, separated, divorced ... lots of time to ski
