i am getting a sneaking suspicion that my wife is taking cash out & hiding it. why you ask?

I see she withdraws $100 then a few hours later withdraws $80.

during the day, she's making debit purchases for lunch, CVS and etc.

makes me wonder where that $180 is going. hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.....

my grandma said every woman needed a go fund and suggested that every time you go to the grocery store you write the check for 5 dollars over and keep it hidden. This was in the 1980s she was saying this, so probably take 20 these days,

    Its not bad advice.

I know how obstinate, contrary, and rationally irrational I can be at times, however it still boggles my mind when I hear about some of these situations. It reminds me of something. What is the ugliest part of your body?

Exactly. You wouldn't want to talk to your wife.

You may want to consider putting closed circuit cameras up in an area, with audio. Also, several people are giving you advice that would result in starting a fight over the attorney. I would tell her, "ok I'll think about it. However that means you have to be reasonable as you are the one with an attorney who works for you, not me." OR something to that effect. Then go get the advice of an attorney. You don't even have to disclose that you have an attorney if things go smoothly. It might make her a little more reasonable in her demands from the get go.

Never raise your voice and be as nice as possible, even if it sucks, or she's crazy.

She's always giving bs stories about the money.

I am laying off of that with her cause I want her to keep up what she's been doing.

Trying to see if I can even afford my own place for a 3 month separation. Otherwise, it's the couch for now.

Is it enough money that she would be uncomfortable keeping it as cash? If so and she puts it in a bank, she will be committing fraud if she doesn't disclose it as an asset. It doesn't seem to be enough money to be worried about off shore accounts, aliases' etc. If not, where would she store it? Does she often go to a close friend or relatives house where she could be storing it? Total up the amount of cash withdrawals in 2015 she made. See what it is as a percentage of income, compare it to your withdrawals.

Remember the suspicion of spouses when a marriage is on the rocks often lead to irrational conclusions.

I am starting to look at all her withdrawals and going to look it over with my dad.

It's strange to me that she might take out $200 a day sometimes then go spend money on lunch & etc while paying with the debit card from our joint account.

I know what you mean about your last comment, but I have seen a lot with my wife and catching her in lies, about 2 years ago, back when her drinking was out of control.

Has she ever had issues with drugs?

I had a few friends that had drug problems, and they made a lot of $100 withdrawals. Never had cash either.

    got it

I highly doubt she's doing drugs.

If anything, she's going out for drinks during the day & hiding cash.

She had a serious drinking problem that I can see the possibility that she will slip right back into it since we're not getting along.

Another reason never to have joint anything. I have been with my girl a long time and part of the reason we made it this far is because we never commingled our assets or credit. Sure, I paid for most everything over the years, but it is nice never to wonder what someone else is doing with your money or if they are fucking up your credit history.
Never in U.S. history has the public chosen leadership this malevolent. The moral clarity of their decision is crystalline, particularly knowing how Trump will regard his slim margin as a “mandate” to do his worst. We’ve learned something about America that we didn’t know, or perhaps didn’t believe, and it’ll forever color our individual judgments of who and what we are.

It might seem a little cold, but that's how we run it. A nice peripheral effect is not having to get cross-examined when either of us purchases stuff like shoes or skis.

Same. We each have our own accounts, but bills and mortgage payments come out of joint accounts that we each pay into.

I hate to say it, but every time I visit this thread, I go and kiss my wife.

As well you should but no amount of me doing the same would have changed my situation. Be thankful for what you have but also understand that as hard as this is to go through for many of us we come out on the other end a much happier and complete person. It is a choice to see this as a learning experience or get sucked down into the bullshit. Personally I have learned a tremendous amount about myself and my values and that has been one of the most rewarding parts of this experience. I am challenged everyday and although it hasn't been easy it has been an experience that I will never forget and one that has taught me more about myself in 6 months than I learned in the previous 14 years with my ex.

    Ummmmm wow.. Things have changed
People should learn endurance; they should learn to endure the discomforts of heat and cold, hunger and thirst; they should learn to be patient when receiving abuse and scorn; for it is the practice of endurance that quenches the fire of worldly passions which is burning up their bodies.
