    The Last Kingdom

This is based off of Bernard Cornwell's series "The Saxon Tales".

I read the first three books. An English kid, raised as a Viking, fights for his place under the rule of King Alfred when England was still cut up.

I'm curious how this turns out. BBC can put out some good stuff at times.

    Starts in October.

Fucking Great!. At times, it reminds me of GoT, and at others, Monty Python. Can't wait for season 3 to begin this week!

Just binged all the series episodes to date and have now started the books.

This is some pretty damn good historical fiction and it really helps to het a sense of place that the emerging England was. I took an upper devision history sequence on middle age England, but Bernard really brings to life the social and economic bases of the political factions while also highlighting the legacy of Roman occupation of Britain.

Also, head shaking annoying how base so many of our ancestors (if you are English, Scottish, and Scandinavian) were, but nonetheless highly recommended both in film and print.
