They played until 10:30 tonight due to a short weather hold.
As far as them ‘blowing the doors’ off of Dead and Co, I don’t know if that is a fair comparison.
Certainly DSO is by far the most faithful reproduction of what the Dead were doing between, say, 73-78 (with a little mid 80’s thrown in). In that context, they are phenomenal. Truly.
But I actually like the increased bite and intensity that Almost Dead and Mayer is doing with the music more. It’s a personal thing. “Pick a cover band, and be a dick about it!”, right, fellas?
    LOL

I do like DSO ‘s ‘Phil’ character better than Otiel, and DSO’s ‘Donna’ isn’t a tortured, gargling howler monkey, so that’s nice.

So they played an elective set last night? Those are fun, but I prefer when they pick a show and recreate it. Yeah, Skip is great in the Phil Zone, he drops bombs.

I think so. I tried to figure out if it was a past show, but nothing came up. They were really, really tight.

First night at the gorge was awesome. Bird Song highlight, Sugar Mag and Casey Jones jam, black Muddy River encore. Now what to do all day waiting for the show tonight?

For anybody attending the upcoming D&C shows in San Francisco, there’s a photo exhibit running concurrently with it:

Nailed it. I still marvel over how bad she could be.

Saw that right when I saw the news of Stanley Mouse suffering from a stroke [emoji107]
I'm gonna try to make it to the exhibit.

Stanley is the man. Kinda wish they were mixing some art with the photos.

That's what I did last time DeadnCo was at the Gorge, great place for it. Pretty wide guardrails for debauchery in the camping zone

Yeah, that was good. Seems like they tapped into something with the addition of the new drummer. Kinda of a bummer that they’re calling it quits now.

Er, certain band members are tired after a couple months on the road?

This may be the last show this year, and this may be the last show with any original Dead members, but I have a feeling the show will go on.

I don't know, don't really care.* Let there be songs, to fill the air.

*That said, I sure do wish it'd been Trey instead of Mayer. :-(

    Dead and Company.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see mini runs, resort Dead, NYE, etc. just no more large scale tours

Vegas residency or maybe the new Grateful Dead Resort and Casino on the strip?

That would make a lot of sense. Those guys are freakin old. Living on the road touring has to be a grind.

I think Bob lives in Mill Valley and Mickey up the street, so maybe a SF venue would make more sense.

i don't have much to add except that the Gorge was my first and last Dead and Company shows. it was legit arena-style Dead and i was blown away.

the mustard was thick and spread on everything they did. i thought Bobby was fantastic especially second night. Mickey was really amazing but not sure if he busted out his shoes.

happy to open and close my Dead and Company chapter at the Gorge.

Which show this weekend do I stream?

Also taking into account I’ll have it hooked up to my receiver and good speakers in the garage.
High today is 90 and will be nice this evening. Then by Sunday it’s a high of 103-104. That show starts an hour earlier so it’ll be roasting in said garage.

Sunday is the last show though. WWMD?
