    Louisiana surf went off today

A cold front came through this morning as we hit the Chandeleur Island chain some 30 miles from the Louisiana coastline and man we freaking ripped the waves. The wind was blowing at 20 to 40 and created huge swells across the Gulf of Mexico. We had consistent 5 to 7s with an occassional 8 to 9 every 20 minutes or so. It was a very rough ride back to the marina but the beer made the sore muscle feelings go away. Should have some great photo footage of the beaches and the waves. I would have never thought that Louisiana had breaks like that before.

And tomorrow is going to get even better with:

Ohh the options tomorrow will bring The Radiators or the Nevilles or Anders Osborne or do I pick Phish or Isaac Hayes...

    Nice!

We had some real nice waves here in Maine on Friday...couple feet overhead and just oil-slick glass.

I've only had 1 chance to surf the Gulf...Galveston Island on a 2-4' windswell that coincided with a conference I was at. Definitely cool experience!

The guys I went with said that they have surfed this area 50 times and have never ever seen another surfer b/c its boat only access. They are headed back to hit the surf again tomorrow & monday before heading back to Costa Rica & Baja respectively to surf for a couple of months. This beat the crap out of anything that I have surfed on the Gulf Coast of Florida or Alabama.

I've been to Galveston and that can be a good spot to hit but this trip today reminded me of hitting Whitewater in Nelson on a 4 foot powder day. I would have never thought that Louisiana would have such an epic spot as this.

it stormed like an angry viking last year during Jazz Fest too.

The Rad's at "that real fukin famous little bar that I can't place the name of right now..." on Thursday was second only to Gov't Mule for me... we saw more than 100 lightning flashes just while waiting to get into the show and then....

nevermind,I can't wait to see the pics!
