Man, Porsche upbadged vw SUVs. And I thought minivans were the next worse thing to getting your balls cut off. My neighbor tried to sell me his used cayenne. No fucking way. What a piece of crap. In my humble opinion of course.

    Wagon Stoke

    Wow Buster.
    Yer getting a Macan.
Well, good for you. My buddy has an s and loves it. I gave up on wagons because I prioritized MT, so I bought a 340 x sedan in 2018, which was the last BMW brought over w/ AWD & MT.

Not true. Our Indie does Porsche/BMW's and I spoke with him about the Cayenne's and he said over all, they are very reliable. I am sure that is the case with the Macan also. It is just becoming really hard to buy a 6 cylinder wagon in this country, hence why people like Buster and I are looking elsewhere. There isn't a VW SUV anything like what Buster bought.
Never in U.S. history has the public chosen leadership this malevolent. The moral clarity of their decision is crystalline, particularly knowing how Trump will regard his slim margin as a “mandate” to do his worst. We’ve learned something about America that we didn’t know, or perhaps didn’t believe, and it’ll forever color our individual judgments of who and what we are.

Macon has 17.6 CF, V60 23 v90 19.8 of cargo space vs 30.4 CF in the now unavailable Golf Wagon for half the money.

Meh...bloat without the function. You roll with 2 roof boxes?

At least the Allroad has 30 cf back there. That would seal the deal for me. Albeit we always roll with 3 plus a dog nowadays.

The wife didn't like the new Tesla iPad style of interface on the A6 allroad or the Mercedes. But she liked the Macan interface and the JD Powers reliability ratings.

There's no need for me to once again project my utter disgust with the paucity of available warrantied wagons. You know, something simple, classic, basic V6.

After all, on Independence Day, it's time to accept yet another dimension of American consumer stupidity.

Ha, you’ll get over it as you easily pass people w/ the Macan fully loaded up on any number of mountain passes.

I hear you Buster. The new Audis feel like a spaceship inside. I guess some like and some dislike. Our Prius is enough spaceship for me.

Just another painful reminder that the Golf R wagon exists and you can't have it.

I'd buy one in a second if it ever came to the US.

    And its got drift mode.

Something I never knew I needed in a wagon, but now I'm kinda pissed I don't have it.

In all actuality though, doesn't the allroad pretty much have the same engine as the Golf R with a better awd/drivetrain (full-time 60/40 rear bias in my case)?

Just a slightly squishier drive but pretty much the same thing?

I like the looks. $61k seems like a lot of money for a Golf wagon with 315 hp, though.

    I do too, it’s a sharp car.

Buster’s wagon shopping posts got me thinking - if Audi keeps trending in the right direction, it would be nice to see an RS4Avant make it to our shores. That would be the perfect little wagon for me.

I've asked it before...and it still baffles me. Why all the horse Power without the Autobahn? [emoji3]
I was able to go faster than all us speed Limits in my Citroen c2 with 60hp.
But I guess it's similar to Switzerland. They also buy only the most overpowered car available because "they might need it in the mountains". It has the highest Subaru wrx per capita rate in the world.

Suvs?...They sell well in Europe as well. I guess everyone likes to drive a 2 Ton semi tank to get groceries.

Or an overpriced #vanlife if you're cool and outdoorsy.

I drive the two spießiest (no translation for that word. Implement Spießer in English, like Kindergarten) vehicles ever and I'm always the rebel on any ski or climb parking lot.

An underpowered Passat wagon and a RV with an alcove (is that the word for the bunk over the drivers cabin?).

    I fucking rock!

Passing power. On roads that are 1 lane in each direction you better be able to pass those three 60hp cars in front of you quickly before the simi coming down the road splatters you like a bug.

Then the roads are a lot emptier in the US. Population density I guess. That's the Swiss argument. [emoji6]

here it can take 5+min until there is no car on the other lane (in the rural areas....). And usually you get to a three lane zone every 5-10min.

I need a car since I sold my e91 before moving west and the chip shortage has shut down my plan of a cheap electric. Someone has a 2003 outback manual for cheap on Craigslist here. Says no head gasket leak and I am waiting to hear back on a timing belt change. Anything else to watch for? It is less than $4k so beater status until the market settles and some of the new electrics come out.

Maybe pay for a PPI after a test drive since a $4K Subaru can lead to some serious bills unless you are willing to do some diy repairs.

Has a headgasket ever been done on it? How many miles on the car?

So you can merge with highway traffic in under a mile for starters. Also, passing on mountain roads in a non-turbo 2.5 subie=unpossible.

I'm super triggered by these two conversations.

I feel like I know a lot about Subies since I own a 2002 with 253K currently being flogged by an eighteen year old who barely speaks to me. How on earth could anyone on here know if a random 2003 Outback is a good buy? The answer is it depends.

Americans would rather drive a car with a tiny trunk at half throttle in top gear up a 6 percent mountain grade at ten over the limit. Italians would rather drive a car with a big boot at full throttle up a 10% grade in third gear turning 6200 rpm at 10 over.

Also, I've never been to Italy but spent the first couple three years of my life blasting around this planet in a Fiat running flat out at red line. So I know this is how Italians put their kids to sleep and that they laugh at stupid Americans with drop down screens in the back seat.

So 150-200hp is not enough to merge into traffic? how do the French or Italians do it? [emoji6]
As I've said: I'd like my Passat to have a few more horses than 120(and 4wd...), but I've never actually needed them.

Edit: hah. Ugly money gave me an explanation. If I merge I go to 80 or90 (60miles?) In 3rd gear. I mean what else do I have the red line for?
Edit2:And to go directly to the left lane I'd probably need a supercar anyway because the average speed there is 160 to 180per hour....(100-120 miles?)
