Yup and then you get to pay an inflated price for the next one too. Hoping I can keep the V70R going until sanity returns to the market.

The moral clarity of their decision is crystalline, particularly knowing how Trump will regard his slim margin as a “mandate” to do his worst. Keep fixing those old cars. It’s worth it.

I hate folks that bitch about $3k in repairs every three years when that’s only 5 months payment on a new car.

Be more green. Keep the old girls on the road.

Just pressed new bushings in all the control arms. I can't believe how well the original ball joints hold at 260k.

I had them on my BRZ and never had that problem. They wore out 10k before I expected (hoped) they would.

Not really a big problem. Just vibrates a bit before it smooths out. You wouldn’t usually notice if you weren’t paying attention.

Exactly. I notice it more on the girls allroad than I do on my s6. Maybe it's the suspension differences or the tire size differences

I had the DWS tires on the V70R because I liked the snow performance. A sidewall blew out on set 1 & 2 after about 20k miles forcing me to replace all 4 tires twice, when I had many miles left on them. No more Contis for me. The new AS tires recommended by Tire Rack are from Finland? and so far so good and worked well the snow last winter. Hopefully they last.

Bummer about the DWS. We’re on the second set on 2 different cars. Love them, and the guy who does our mounting/balancing does as well.

Just hard to believe. Supposed to lose your ass on depreciation with a manual VW. Lol.
Really tempted to let my Alltrack go if that’s what the offers are looking like. Looking for a bigger car.

Same here. Just bought another set for the Subaru and gotta swap them out soon. Feeling guilty grinding up the Nokians on dry warm pavement.

Did it again today and they had an option to choose manual tranny which dropped the offer to 18590.

    It is stupid good money.

There’s a similar discussion in the trucks thread. The offer would be really tempting if I could think of something I’d rather have that wouldn’t result in a payment and a hike in my taxes.
Remind me. We'll send him a red cap and a Speedo.

Any glaring issues with B8.5 Allroads? She likes the looks of them and from what I can gather they are pretty reliable. No worse than her current car anyways.
I bought one with 66k and a stack of service records from the meticulous first owner last summer. I've only done routine maintenance after putting about 20k miles on it.

The timing chain and oil consumption can be an issue. Find one that's already had that work done or one that has had 5k oil change intervals.

Dang. That's bonkers. Carvana must be hard up for inventory judging by my local Carvana tower vending machine. It is seriously like over half empty right now. I've never seen it like that before. Guess since you have a stable of cars to tap into, you could do worse things than sell to them. I can't believe that's a dealer offer! Man, times have changed. I am NOT buying a used car any time soon. FML.

My wife's CX3 lease is up soon. If it hadn't had a $20k repair after being t-boned by an uber driver running a light at three months in I'd be tempted to buy out the lease and sell it to the dealership.

Cutting down to a one car family for six months probably on the cards though since there hasn't been a time both cars were being driven at the same time during pandemic WFH.

Carvana arbitrage play? Might be worth it if your residual is low enough.

I’m considering the potential Carvana arbitrage with my wagon. We’ll see how the $ shake out....

I'm not familiar with how carvana works. They'd give me a hard offer to purchase even having seen the accident repair?

Yup, lots of cars on Autotrader with an accident on the Carfax, just at a reduced price depending on the damage.

Just did it out of curiosity. 2017 SEL 6MT w/ ACC. Only 35k, very clean, but one accident that we got repaired.

    $16,529 was my offer...

Selling my LR4 and ATS to them as soon as my permanent registrations show up with the tags.

Woah, the used car market in wild. The Carvana offer for my 4Runner is over $1000 more than I paid for it when I bought it new.

Holy crap!!! Might be worth dumping it and going to buy another new one if that's the case.
