whoa, party foul on the rad skier using Markers.
The whole Chimney area looks so badass in these pictures, I bet its amazing seeing it in person.
Hell yes, good looking stuff.
Ever see any boarders hitting up that line?
Looks pretty makeable on a board; the only really sketchy part is dropping into the chute from the near vert cornice above it.
Also, it looks like a smoove landing off the exit cliff since the takeoff and landing angles are pretty similar.

its handeling the 30 footer at 40-50 mph that is the tricky part, i would think.Originally Posted by boarderline

I just wanted to use the new dick-waving gif. Sorry.
does this gif make any thread nsf?!?
Thought I'd add some more stoke and pics--another, very quiet Sunday morning session. Just Robb G., JT Holmes and another guy named John on 3-4" new. A mellow, fun, have at it hour or so. And then Gunnar came along and figured he'd give Schmidiots another shot. But this time wasn't as clean. He caught too much air off the upper pad and didn't get the full re-direction off the lower (plus the soft snow wasn't as responsive), and he clipped the lower rocks on the tranny landing. He still stomped it, but a few inches more left, and it could have been disastrous.
Unfortunately, I shot most lines with slide film--these are just extras. I wish the picture looking down Schmidiots revealed Gunnar's track better; zoomed in, you can see where he tagged the rocks. And I still don't know how to open these damn photos directly. Little help? And how the hell do I make the pictures bigger like everyone else's when it only allows 100 kb/download? Squinting at postage stamps doesn't do much good.
By the way, no, no boarders have hit the Chimney in the past couple of days (I'm not sure if anyone has tried this year). It would certainly be a burly, stagnant drop in on a board. In years when there's more snow up inside the lines, things do get hit by boarders, but not by many...

Forgot the one looking down Schmidiots...
huck, open each attachment, then copy the url. then paste the url into img tags. in the post interface there is a little yellow mountain icon. click on that and paste the url into that window. it will set the img tags up for you.
ex:
[img] your awsome sicky gnar pic's url [/img]
and this is mind bending
and in this pic, is easy street just lookers right of schmidiots? or is it the next one over?

the best way to do this is upload your pics to a server. you could use the gallery here at TGR, although i think there is a size limit there as well. but its bigger than the limit on attached images. most go to www.biglines.com, and upload pics there. no size restrictions at biglines. then, copy the properties from those uploaded pics, and use the img tags here and presto. big pics.Originally Posted by huckasoreass
you can also upload pics to the user galleries at powdermag.com, and link from there (powmag doesn't have size restrictions either)

This picture really shows everything great.....by the four tracks coming out. Lookers left to right: Schmidiots, Easy Street, Center Chute, Chimney Sweep.
Thanks for sharing all this Hucka and others.....this is my favorite post ever. Ok, back to my physical therapy......with dreams of winter '06.

Thanks for the tutelage. As far as the Chimney layout goes, Huckwheat lined it up correctly. I think you were referring to just skiers left of Easy Street , which is another variation with a bigger booter off the bottom that appears good to go, but it only has 2" of new snow on nasty pepper rocks. My brother considered sneaking in from Easy Street today, making turns down to that line, but it just wasn't fully there. Who knows, one more good storm!
Another line coming into play is Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, which starts from the Center Line (critical sideways turn in facing skier's right), then angling right, pointing it through everything and hauling out right next to Beck's Rock under Schmidiots. Those same rocks in the line next to Easy Street again play too much of a role, because that's the first place you touch down. But maybe in a few days, with a little snow, I'll have more pics!
damn.... Very nice
this is some sick shit. It's making my palms all sweaty and increasing my heart rate just thinking about it. Sick recovery, hella sketchy. Nice job
