So the local TV news station posts a picture of a roadkill skunk that received an extra stripe last night via a road painting crew.

I thought it was pretty funny.

our local news broadcasted a story with video about a duck that had an arrow shot through its wing. and the duck was "dancing around happily" according to the nitwit anchor-douche, laughingly. I was offended. A dead skunk being painted, not a problem. But laughing because a duck in a park was shot with an arrow is offensive and stupid.

That's awesome. And I really thought that was the stuff of urban legends. You know, lazy road crews, striped possums, etc. I grew up in that town and even though it has changed a lot since then, I am so proud. I can't find anywhere that the street name is mentioned.

Getting outraged by this is ludacris. But, I'm all for better treatment of farm animals and criminalizing cruelty towards pets. People who abuse animals / pets are much more likely to abuse people. As a society, we should be punishing people who have a propensity to make other complex creatures suffer needlessly. A man who will beat his dog or callously torture pigs is a dangerous man.

This ^ outrage, prompted by the quality of outrage that was expressed over the original dead animal, is known as metaoutrage. If somebody could please be outraged at my posting about the metaoutrage, we'd have fully metastasizing outrage, whcih could then prompt outrage at my misuse of the word metastasizing, and its insensitivity to cancer patients, and didn't you know my grandpa had cancer, and everyone really loved him, so stop being a jerk, you jerkwad, and respect your elders.
