    Travel Bag

So I am planning a trip out to SLC and tahoe end of summer and want to bring the old 9 speed.

Anyone in the northeast have an EVOC travel bag they would be willing to rent to me for a couple weeks? Obviously can throw you some cash or beer to make it worth it.

If not is the investment in an EVOC worth it? Usually travel at least once a year and would love to bring to bike along. Is it considered a checked bag or is it too big?

    Thanks for any info

I am flying to OR next friday and have the same questions. Anyone in NJ wanna rent me a bag for a week? Thinking about just buying one. The dakine seems like the best bang for your buck.

How ghetto is it to fly with an actual cardboard bike box? Just got a bike in the mail in a pretty sturdy box with room for lots of padding aka my clothes.

My understanding is that a bike bag is subject to an oversize fee. I get several free checked bags because I fly a lot, so I just put the wheels + some parts in a chopped up bike box and put the frame in a clear bag with some pipe insulation to protect it.
