    Assistant Maintenance, Road Building, Apprentice Ski Guide at Steamboat Powdercats

    Steamboat Powdercats is looking to hire an assistant maintenance, road building, apprentice guide. This position is a full-time seasonal employee who would be on contract from November 15th through April 1st, plus this future employee needs to be able to help us during the month of September when we do our snowcat maintenance.

    Maintenance/grooming $15/hour depending on experience, guiding at $125/day plus gratuities.

    Position: Assistant Maintenance/Road Building/Apprentice Guide

    Job Description: Assisting the Head of Maintenance with daily operations, upkeep and repairs on snowcats, snowmobiles, and facilities. Assisting in snow road building and maintenance. Entry level ski guiding depending on applicant qualifications. Record-keeping for maintenance completed on machines. The goal of this position is to train the assistant to take over the salaried Head of Maintenance position after a 1-3 years, depending on candidate skills. Head Maintenance position starts at $25,000/6 months.

    Job Requirements:

    • Applicants should be physically fit and able to work in cold, winter conditions
    • Personable, customer service skills/experience
    • Basic mechanical skills important (not necessarily diesel specific)
    • Basic snowmobiling skills a plus
    • Snowcat or heavy equipment experience a plus
    • Strong ski ability
    • Basic backcountry and snow safety experience. Training available in-house
    • Basic computing skills for maintenance recording

    Pretty kick ass job opportunity. If I weren't married with a mortgage...Somebody get on this. Learning to be a snowcat mechanic is a great skill.

    This would be a no-brainer jump for me - bump for the lucky one that finds it.

    Only caveat is Buffalo Pass is not the steepest nor does it have much in the way of sustained vertical.
