I got a script for Lunesta and last night had a beautiful 8hrs. With any luck it'll hold for a while and in a month she thinks I should try Ambien again.

I take Concerta at 6:20am so according to the doc it should not be having any effect at 10pm. I had a blood test and it showed a slight vitamin D deficiency and my as always lower than average blood pressure but hormonally I'm fine.
Just curious, has your MD discussed all the life style issues associated with insomnia, or why you might need all these drugs? Has she actually tried to find solutions beyond the pharmacy? I am not say pills are wrong, just that there are not always right either.

I also find it hard to imagine anybody who has a healthy, outdoor lifestyle like skiers, bikers, et al having a vitamin D issue, but I live in southern CA. I am curious what the real MDs here think of that?

Vitamin D deficiency is pretty common on west side of OR & WA

How many days a year to you ski shirtless? How much vitamin d is produced in the space between the bottom of your goggles and the top of your jacket?

Half a muffin last night. Slept 7 hours, got up to pee and slept 3 more hours. I haven't got that much sleep forever. A little fuzzy, but happy to be well rested for a change.
Never in U.S. history has the public chosen leadership this malevolent. The moral clarity of their decision is crystalline, particularly knowing how Trump will regard his slim margin as a “mandate” to do his worst. We’ve learned something about America that we didn’t know, or perhaps didn’t believe, and it’ll forever color our individual judgments of who and what we are.

I find it strange that the idea of using edibles as a sleep aid just dawned on you with this thread. Did you just develop insomnia at its mention on TGR? Is there some underlying message you are trying to say?

If I wasn't required to obey the law, federal that is, marijuana would be my first sleep aid choice. Maybe I'm exceptionally bright?

I take a vitamin D supplement in the winter months at the suggestion of two MDs.

The further from the equator the more D sup you need. We could stand outside naked all winter up here and not get enough. Salmon helps. Don't forget to keep zinc levels up to help absorb that D. We don't store zinc.

Good luck with the insomnia. Indica would be my first go to...but definitely not a Sativa or hybrid.

If it makes you feel any better I can fall asleep but I usually wake up at 4:30 and can't fall back to sleep.

Yup, same here. If I'm asleep by 9:30 or so, I can actually get a decent night's sleep, but I wake up between 4:00 and 4:30 most mornings, regardless of what time I went to bed.

I suppose I could cross post in the "Shit That Annoys You" thread.

Damn, if serious, I would have killed someone by now, as I need 8 hours to feel normal. Less and my already shitty concentration goes in the tank.

I probably average 5-6 hours a night, with a night or two a week in the 4 hour range.

I used to sleep pretty well, but over the last 2-3 years, it's been a slow slide toward waking up in the wee hours. I miss feeling rested, and morning sex.

Did that start in your mid 40's like me?

Ha...I slept like a rock until my mid 40's. Now not so good. My mom said it runs in the family as we age. Likely a contributing factor to cognitive decline in us.

I’ve developed tinnitus the last few months. Fucking terrible shit. I wake up every 4 hrs. Not a pill guy, but taking 2mg of lorazepam every other day helps.
