    TR: Vail to NH

It would seem everyone goes west to go ski the big mountains. After years of hearing about Mt. Washington from friends from the east coast, I had to make the trip east to ski Tuckerman Ravine.

It started with a flight to Boston. Within an hour of landing I was sitting at Fenway, watching a Red Sox game. Not a bad start if you ask me.

We headed up to NH the next day for some climbing at Rumney.

We then loaded up our packs for 4 days at Hermit Lake and headed up first thing the next morning. We dropped off the heavy stuff and headed Hillman's up for a quick lap on The Duchess (see video).

The next day we skied The Lip, Chute Variation, and Dodge's Drop.

Tucks is a beautiful, unique place.

Saturday came with gorgeous blue skies and 2000 of our closest friends

We ticked off a few more lines and headed down for dinner with a view

We did one more (rowdy) Duchess lap on Sunday morning before heading back to the car.

After living in my ski boots for 4 days, it was time to put the climbing shoes back on and climb at Cathedral Ledge

And last, but not least, a quick video from my first time skiing on the east coast

Centerpiece and Masterpiece at Bonsai, and Millennium Falcon at the Main Cliff were all classics. Wish I could have had more than one afternoon there. The rock at Rumney is really cool, and the routes and nice and steep and pumpy.

Well done! You could probably sell your story to NH Tourism for a couple grand. I can see the marketing campaign now: "Vail local flies to New Hampshire to ski the better season."
