Wow! There can be a great benefit from checking with your insurance company to make sure your records are in order. They are probably going to refund me $250 and I'll save another $250 in future premiums!
I needed a new proof of insurance sent. I called USAA and asked for it. As long as I was on the phone, I decided to ask when the speeding tickedt would come off my record. They informed me that I had two tickets listed. I was dumbfounded because I only knew of one. I was told that if the second ticket was infact false, my insurance would be $250 less per year (and this ticket was almost two years ago!). So I quickly called the DMV. They said I only had one ticket on record: an out of state ticket from Kansas. I called the insurance company back and explained what the DMV told me. After being on hold a few minutes, they informed me they had mistakenly recorded the same ticket twice. Once from Kansas, and then again when it was reffered back to the other DMV! The CSR wrote the report up while I was on the phone and sent it to the underwriter.
That certainly adds some cheer to my day.
Check your records! Make sure you aren't being wrongly charged!
