CDOT I70 Winter Driving Experience Survey

CDOT wants to hear about your experience driving on I-70 through the mountains this winter from December 2014 to March 2015.

Plenty of complaining goes on here so here is an outlet that perhaps can help get the squeaky wheel greased.

Done ... it's not about CDOT doing a better job, but (dreaming) rather addressing #1 & #2 which has been discussed to death in the I-70 bitch thread. No amount of social media will fix this.

    #1 Reckless drivers
    #2 Poorly equipped vehicles
    #3 (can't remember what I answered)
    #4 Weather
    #5 Construction

Is it me or did they ask the same questions multiple times?

I did it but who ever put it together is completely missing the point. The questions about where we get info from we're good, the ones about what cause traffic were useless. Weather, big rigs and high traffic volume are the big three, take any one away and things run pretty smooth. The only problem is they are the three things we need to come up with a solution to work around. They are a given, you can't decrease them and while two of the three will naturally increase, the third we hope and pray increases. In fact weather drives increases in traffic volume, from a congestion standpoint it's kinda fueling the fire. I guess a monorail will help with one of the three but I think everyone with a brain has figured out by now that it is an EPIC (see what I did there) waste of money.

The good thing for me is outside of the season for my daughters ski program I've found a sure fire solution to beat the traffic. It's an hour from my door, there's no traffic, the snow is usually always soft, I don't need to get up early and stress that other people are going to track my pow, there's never a lift line, I always get to park my car right at the base and I never have to worry about people stealing the beers I stashed in the snow bank.

Monorail for the win...as in, making less crowded for people who know how to drive....love it.

Waste of money? Not sure people care about wasting money in the USA...many examples to choose from.

CDOT plows awesome....maybe better than most places.

Restricting semi traffic seems to be the most logical, not sure how they would do that.

I80 just north of CO is also bad when the blizzards come in WY.

I know I'm contradicting myself but this should be a key piece of the plan. To be fair though we'd need to essentially bribe them to stay off the road. Free food, free bed and a shower, something to make the delay worth their time. I couldn't imagine how bad it would suck driving a rig along I-70 in a snowstorm with a million idiots that can't drive, you'd think that alone would be enought to get them to say "f**k it" and grab some shut eye. At the bottom of the pass.

Took the survey. There seems to be a waste of money on CDOT "promotional" TV radio crap. Not very uch mention of their internet presence and how they relate to normal maps like google and apple maps. kind of stuck in the early 2000s. wonder if the rest of their model is similar.

HAHAHAH 15-30USD for their express lanes from Empire to Idaho Springs....that will end quick.

It's fkn stupid is what it is. It's just going to back up too since they will have to merge back in. Merging is one of those things that really fucks shit up.
