    Sunset Photos ...

While I love the Primo Pics thread with all the sickter, mcrickter skiing shots, I love great sunsets. Clear sunsets are boring (in a manner of speaking). When I see clouds (be it big phattys or thin whispers), I try and make sure not to miss the sunset - always blows my mind the different colors, intensities, patterns, etc. Now that I got a kickin' lil digi cam that is small enough that I can take anywhere, some coolio pics are gonna be showing up on a regular basis of alot of neat stuff.

I'll start it with some shots of the sunset last night (4/25/05) that I captured on my way down from getting disoriented/lost up at Alta and ending up on the opposite side of Germ Pass than I thought (don't even ask).

love the alpenglow on the center line in this one

love the eerieness of this one

    amazing colors

love the red on the bottoms of the clouds in this one

    more colors

    and more colors

Bring on the best of your sunset pics!!!

I'll add a few of mine:

Keiki learning to fish on Lana`i

Suset at 13,796' on the summit of Mauna Kea voclano, Hawai`i, with Mauna Loa in the background, and the shadow of Mauna Kea creeping up into the alpenglow to the far left

Mauna Loa volcano from Pu`u Huluhulu in Hawai`i Volcanoes National Park

    Another one from Lana`i

Actually a sunrise, near Mt. Cook, South Island, my new home

The sunset from Hat Railay West, Thailand the night of my friend's rehearsal dinner at a wedding last May

I can't wait to get up into the Southern Alps and chase down some evening Alpenglow!

Thanks man, the least I could do to honor a thread by the most consistent poster of sickbird Utah stoke. Kept me going through last winter in Hawaii when I took most of those....

edit - forgot to add one more of one of my favorite spots in Utah:

Few to add to the collection :

A few rosy ones taken from my garden.

This one seems to have lost, for the most part, its rosy tint - but the sky in the background is amazing, IMHO.

Thought this cloud looked like some mountains

An attempt at a more artistic one, Col de Saisies, France

There's gold in them-thar hills, Sunrise over the Sierras, US of A.

    Great shots Xover and Lane

Spanky - nice shots, although the one from the Lodge at Koele makes me cringe 'cause I was raised by the old Hawaiian family whose ranch house was demolished to build that hotel. The exact spot of your photo (right next to the old Hawaiian church there in front of the hotel uphill from the horse pasture across the road) is where our sandbox and swingset used to be. I spent a lot of time in the big banyan tree in front of the hotel......sad. What's left of their family now lives on those two houses up by themselves to the lookers' left of the hotel, and when Tutu (grandma) passes on, they might tear down those two and evict their relatives as well....too bad the hotels provide the economy and jobs or I would really hate them....

On a brighter note, this thread is tits! Some of the best photos I've seen in a while.
