    Whistler Mags- Question?

I am probably coming up to BC midmay. Blurred suggested I check out Whistler for a day. I was wondering what it is like in may and whether I can rent equip, cost etc for may? (since I think it would a hastle and/or expense to bring my own gear for 1 day)

Is there bus service from Van to Whistler?

hello - when are you coming in May? I have gear you can borrow if you promise not to trash it. THere is bus service from Van to Whistler. If you like backcountry chances are that would be better too. Coverage is good up high

Perimeter has hotel pickups. You can get rides from Greyhound of course. Lots of shops still have rentals too; snowcovers; summit sports, Canski etc

I was thinking airport but maybe Summit isn't. Perimeter has a monopoly on airport shuttles don't they? Next step is private car limo sort of thing I think or it used to be.

The bottom of Whistler will have the bike park and the top will have skiing. Probably just the Emerald and Red or Franz's depending on the snow level. On the weekend they might run Harmony and/or Peak. Renting gear shouldn't be a problem. Lift tickets will be around $45+7%GST.
If you have a problem & think that someone else is going to solve it for you then you have two problems.

    Here's the info:

    $35 round-trip Van-WB

The coverage was superb last Tuesday. I'll be up there this week, too - so I'll let you know how things are.
Last Tuesday it was HOT as hell temp-wise...there were several insane guys (from Quebec, naturally) snowboarding in cheerleader micro-skirts or just in their underwear. Also saw a shirtless guy.
This week I'm planning on just a longsleeve T-shirt/soft shell/gore-tex with all the zips open, or less.

toured out to fissile last friday with LeeLau. it was a beautiful day, but it got fricken hot by 11am. by the time we got out there, the snow was too baked to bother bootpacking up. we could see cornices dropping all over and decided to bag climbing fissile and live to ski another day. took a nice corn run off cowboy ridge and slogged back to whistler. touring back through Flute bowl was fun, we got a solid corn run in and it looked solid. considering the weekend and forecast is for more unseasonably warm weather, Id say the really steep BC lines are done. get out there super early to get at the other stuff. btw, Lee... where are all those pics you took?
