    MTB in SoCal

So I don't know shit about fuck when it comes to southern california. zilch. But i'm thinking on a plan, a way way far out in the future plan, with that said, i read a top ten list on single tracks that mentioned LA as a great mountain bike city, for whatever the fuck that means...

whats the mtb scene in so cal like, specifically la, riverside, irvine, .... all the way to san diego?

is it just ok? is there good stuff within 30 minutes? 1 hour? 2 hours 4 hours?

I've been reading about it, but nothing takes a broad overview and gives a lay of the land
Do I detect a lot of anger flowing around this place? Kind of like a pubescent volatility, some angst, a lot of I'm-sixteen-and-angry-at-my-father syndrome?

    fuck that noise.

I may be in Aneheim in June and was looking for riding info now that my buddy in Laguna moved to Tahoe.

OP: the riding in Laguna Beach is legit. Not huge climbs necessarily, but steep ups and downs. Pretty gnarly in places IIRC.

Yeah it's kinda weird none of the Laguna stuff is on that map. I had a lot of fun in that area. There's some good rocky stuff in there.

Bill typically doesn't post maps of 'controversial' trails. The legal ones are mapped: http://www.mountainbikebill.com/AlisoCreek.htm

I wasn't even necessarily talking about the other stuff. I just didn't see the mapped and signed ones on there either. I didn't dig deep enough. Thanks for the link.

But yeah I though rock-it was pretty fun. Meadow was good for ripping some sideknobs off.

I live in boulder/summit county Colorado so hard to compare to that, but which cities in so cal are gonna have quickest trip to respectable riding... La? Irvine? Riverside? San Diego? That site is legit but I was talking more a real broad overview on where you want to be close to in so cal, this is a potential grad school move if I decide to go back...

LA is so massive, it would depend on what part you are in.
OC would have most closest full day trip options with the Santa Ana Mtns.
SD would have the closest after work options and a few day options east of town. Santa Ana mtns could also be close, depending on what part of SD county you are in.

Umm... I think you meant Santa Ana Mountains, 406? Presumably because some of the access to them is out of San Juan Cap. (Others nearby are San Jacintos, San Gabriels, and San Bernardinos.)

The "San Juans" are in SW Colorado...
