It differs from an abstract or executive summary in that it is simpler and more concise, similar to a thesis statement, and it resembles the inverted pyramid practice in journalism.

BLUF is a standard in U.S. military communication[3] whose aim is to make military messages precise and powerful.[4] It differs from an older, more-traditional style in which conclusions and recommendations are included at the end, following the arguments and considerations of facts. The BLUF concept is not exclusive to writing since it can also be used in conversations and interviews.[5]
Thanks. I’ll implement this order tonight.

My wife was explaining why she called her Mom to me- which was totally irrelevant to the story she was telling, but for some reason I had to know it was about a CC charge to lulemon and told me the whole backstory on the purchase and why it was an issue - then she went back to the main plot and said, "Anyways, to make a long story short..."

No honey, you are making a short story very long.

I did not say this out loud because I just couldn't wait to hear the main story.....christ almighty

Oh my poor man--thinking that the purpose of a conversation is to exchange important information. It is in part an exercise in dominance and submission and you, by listening quiety as she goes on and on, have submitted.

This mans got it ^^ you don't really try to fix anything just listen

so you need some go-to reactions like "is that so" " really "

but if you don't change them up she will realize you aren't actualy listening and don't really care

This is why bigger things are easier, because it takes more to move them, so its harder to mess it up.

couple tips.. turn the wheel toward the side that you see more trailer on to straighten out, and watch/line up your trailer axels rather than the back of the trailer when you are lining up because thats going to be your pivot point.

but, yeah. Practice in an empty parking lot to avoid an audience and inevitable embarrassment.

play with your kids toy truck and trailer, too. its pretty easy to see what does what.
Just to revisit, because I see it mentioned here. Any time I teach someone to back up a trailer, I have them hold the BOTTOM of the steering wheel. Wherever your hand goes, the trailer goes. Hand to the left, trailer goes left, etc. This is the easiest way to teach. Once you have the feel, it is not needed much anymore. Just throw some cones out in a parking lot and practice. Totally useful life skill, like driving stick or changing your own oil or tire. Should be required learning.

My buddy just got a new Ford Bronco with a manual transmission and he let me drive it this morning. I hadn’t driven a stick in over a decade and I forgot how nice that clutch release and pop into the next gear feels. Just saw BMW and Mercedes are going 100% automatic. I get it, but it’s kind of a shame.

My kid will be driving in little more than a year year and will be getting a MT car for several reasons. I can't wait to row through gears again. The entire experience is so much more engaging.

Kids should be thinking about driving safely, not shifting gears.

The opposite. It’s hard to text and phone while driving mt. Be the car. Feel the drive.

Plus manual shifting is a lifelong skill. Not needed much anymore. But So much more engaging

I was gonna say this. My daughter learned on a manual, and took her drivers test w/ the manual and I think it made her a much better driver.

It’s gonna be a lot easier to learn to drive a motorcycle if you’re already familiar with manual transmissions…At least until they all go electric.

I taught my daughter to drive a manual trans with the dad idea it might help prevent a date catastrophe.

In my experience with two teen drivers, parents are better off investing in a hands-free talk and text system. That's reality.

From what I'm reading on here, the manual trans fetish seems to be more about the parent than the kid. Red flag. (And FWIW I learned to drive on a manual trans Ford Pinto. Did me zero good in the general scheme of things.)

Enjoy the hell out of it, I did with her MiniS. She just graduated to an automatic Subaru as the clutch was fun but not anymore on campus.
