Paging PacNW Computer Techs
The Shin family is in desparate need of a good tech to build out the home network. The current tech support geek of the house (me) is a total poseur who knows enough about this stuff to get into trouble, but not enough to actually get anything to work.
Situation:
It seems my DSL modem is in a monogamous relationship with my first Linksys router. When I tried to upgrade/replace Linksys model 1.0 with a buxom wireless model 2.0, the intillectually challenged and obviously blind Mr DSL router kicked the new hottie to the curb and will only swap bits with trusty old model 1.0.
In an interesting twist recommended by Dr. Ruth at the help desk, I was able to convince Linksys 1.0 to allow Linksys 2.0 to mount her from behind and ride piggy back, essentially creating a three way for Mr DSL. Mr DSL like that interlude, but quickly tired of the extra work of satisfying two hot boxes and resorted back to intercoursing solely with good ole linksys 1.0
I have messed with all the obvious settings on the computer, modem, and routers, googled for help from a bunch of forums, and spent countless hours with tech support.
At this point, I am ready to pancake the whole network and start from scratch but I'm afraid of losing all connectivity thereby cutting Mrs Shin off from access to e-mail and surely landing my ass in a perpetual Home Depot to Pottery Barn to Bed Bath and Beyond shopping loop.
Anyway, I am willing to PAY real money for someone to come over and set everything up once and for all. It's really not that complicated for anyone who knows what they are doing. I obviously don't.
If you or anyone you know has a knack for this stuff, shoot me a pm and we can work something out.
