Yeah, and it wasn't me this time!

Random train of thought, as opposed to preaching from my pulpit, brought me to the lactulose, which truly is something not to be desired.

Listen to your body and your brain and you should be okay, Alias.

If the situation is going in the wrong way get help.

Fucking presciptive mofo's piss me off.

You don't know him, track, back the fuck off. What is it that you think you are accomplishing?

Sorry, I see the effects of it EVERY day at work. My work has conditioned me to often times have knee jerk reflex responses that aren't always easy to digest by lay people who don't see what I see all day long. I apologize for voicing my thoughts on the internet.

As far as 'tolerances and limits', true to some extent. But 12/day is above physiological 'tolerance', even for a liver that is trained like Lance Armstrong.

I give my sincerest apologies and hope anyone the best in their quest to limit their intake of said beverage. If withdrawal is an issue, consider talking to your doctor about 25-50mg of Librium to limit the symptoms.

"Listen to your body and your brain and you'll be ok" Not possible when your blood alcohol is consistently elevated. Liver problems can creep up on you without symptoms for a long period of time.

I have 'backed the fuck off' and will keep my pie hole shut from here on out.

Trackhead, you and I are in the same boat. However, no one around here gives a shit.

Not knowing exactly what you do, I'd still venture a guess that you deal with uneducated, weak-willed idiots with no self-awareness. We're addressing someone here who has the wherewithal and courage to bring an issue that's been nagging him to a public, albeit generous and welcoming, forum in the interest of bettering his own situation.

Nice advice to medicate it. What the fuck is that? America is over medicated already.

Just sack up, be a fucking adult and take accountability for your own fucking life and stop preaching to me about mine. (not directed at you TH, but American society at-large)

Just stating the obvious - not preaching or being condescending.

Whatever, it's only the internet, right?

I admit I am a harsh mother fucker, a direct product of my environment. I am so cynical I shouldn't be allowed to speak at Thanksgiving dinner for fear of permanently shocking my family. Ask my view on this, and I'll give you a STRAIGHT ANSWER. My dad was a loser alcoholic, and it fucking killed his as at 53.

What's obvious is your condescension. It appears (to me anyway) that people here DO, quite readily, give a shit.

EDIT: You both are in the health care field, you both have deep-rooted issues with alcoholism in your family and you wear your biases pretty blatantly, instead of contributing objective, informed knowledge. (<--my opinion alone)

Exactly true. The sad thing is that I suspect your friends and family don't understand it either. Mine don't.

Condescension is for pussies. In the day I smoked coke, meth, shot heroin, ate mushrooms, chowed acid, cultivated-sold-smoked weed, drank myself into oblivion. I stopped all that for fear of dying.

No condescension here. Just the facts.

    Very true^^^^^^^

But the text books are not biased. Nor are the lab values.

As I said before, good luck on your journey, if you chose to embark on it. It won't be easy, but it will improve your life.

I got sucked into this thread, I usually try to avoid these political flamefest type threads. Sorry to "cunt it up"

    I'm done here. Have fun.

Oh c'mon Pinner, everyone here has their biases. You just happen to dislike (maybe misunderstand?) mine. I think from our e-mail conversations and e-mail exchanges over the years, you know I'm not a condescending prick. Preachy and weathered by years of doing really hard work? Maybe. But would I give you the shirt off my back if you needed it? Absolutely.

Wrong again my friend. Librium is a very legit medication for relieving the symptoms of withdrawal. Withdrawal from alcohol (in severe cases) can be life threatening. I can't tell you how many people I have had on ventilators, thrashing around despite heavy sedation attempts, with blood pressure's through the roof, blah, blah.

I do deal with weak willed idiots. But I also see 'normal' folks who get sucked into it too.

I'm not preaching shit. Just voicing medical fact.

Trackhead, it looks like you have an idea what you're talking about. What is more physiologically dangerous...a 6 pack a day every day, or a case a day for 2 days a week?

Look folks, I don't dislike either of you. Quite to the contrary, really. But I do take issue with the way you both have presented a chicken-little world to the guy who admits he's okay in most regards, but wonders if he's heading for trouble.

Alcohol kills, yeah no shit. It rips apart families, it rots your body and pickles your mind. It makes animalistic sadistic killers and rapists out of people. We know that. Why take what was becoming a very supportive and gentle discussion and put the fear of God into us? I'm sitting here enjoying a High Life as I write this and now all I can do is imagine being tied to a gurney thrashing about in a stupor with a liquified pancreas while they try to pump a needle full of Librium into my jugular. WTF, eh?

I am sorry for all those whose lives have been fukt by alcohol. Really I am. I've gone heads-up with my own demons, but by taking a broader, objective look, I've managed a standing eight count. Just like alias. All he needed was a sounding board.

I too am done here. I am not shutting my pie hole though. More likely I'll pour some eeevvvilll liquor down it. Y'all have a fun and safe evening and be nice.

Drinking every day is not a problem.

    Drinking every morning is.

Alias-you're probably what they call a problem and/or heavy drinker. Usually full blowns are in full denial. You are concerned and are checking yourself, which is very healthy. Try not driniking for a few days and see how you do, everyone is different.

BobMc-Thanks for your honesty, I started laughing out loud when you put up how much you drink.
I myself drink a lot, but maybe not that much. Prolly closer to around 8 beers a day, but it's good Colorado beer. We need to drink a few cases the next time I'm out there bro.

Alias, before thiss turns to proper shit-slinging there's some good stuff here. Notably from Lan, bigsugar and a few more.....
This for me just about sums it up but I'd put "destructive" in front of "habits".

I kick shit out of the rowing machine or run 5 nights a week. 1 or 2 nights (w/e) I'll party. Have done for the last 2 years and I'm 32. Getting fit is a great substitute for midweek/daytime drinking.

From what it sounds like I've a similar background to Trackheads......

I was sitting on my deck enjoying a Guiness above the lake, but now I'm here. And I obviously have an addiction to this fucked up TGR shit.

    Sorry for the rant.

I will go days, even a week or so without a drink - I posted this because I realized that the last time I didn't have a drink was probably 3 weeks ago.

help me out - what are your consumption levels?
Drinking at work= interesting topic. My boss at my last place of employment also encouraged drinking. How strange is that? I got spoiled by being able to have a drink at work (skiing/climbing shop) whenever I felt like it. Now, at my current job, I sometimes think how nice it would be to have a brewsky in the middle of the day. It makes me feel like something is wrong-wanting to have a drink at work in the middle of the day- when really it's just wanting to stick to a regimen that I had become accustomed to at my previous job. Do you feel like your drinking is affecting your performance at work? Do you feel like you'll be ostracized if you decline the offer of a tasty beverage from your boss?

Now, when I was a bartender, I could probably drink most anybody under the table. Multiple shots of GrandMa and Jager while on the job certainly boosted my tolerance, followed by several martinis, beers, or glasses of fine wine while counting the dough after hours, shootin' shit with the barback. (Ahh, those were the days...). I wouldn't even feel like I had had anything to drink by the time I got home around 4 or 5am. I'd get home and crack open a beer...

The good thing is that you are aware of your consumption levels. And you're honest with the fact that you enjoy it. I enjoy it, too. Just not at work. Lately, because of my recent run-in with johnny law, and also due to the fact I'm going through a divorce right now, I haven't exceeded one beer per day. I need to have my head straight. Losing your license doesn't help you become a better skiier, either. So, please be careful when driving home after a festive day at work. A plus side to all of this is the biking; it's good for me and I'm saving gas $. Also, my tolerance will go down, and soon enough I'll be a cheap date once again!

How the fuck do people do this? I'm on my way to finishing this 5th and this shit kills me.

Why is it that once I get one in me it's over?

Since we are having a house clearing...
