    But Quizno's toasts their sandwiches
    good point-probably why it's an add'l 3 bucks.

It seemed back East, didn't matter what deli your ordered it from, but the Italain was the same...never mayo, never mustard...oil/vin or some form of italian dressing only. And cracked-oregano-parmasean-cheese-bread was not an option.

I went to Heidi's deli earlier this week and the worst sandwich experience of my life. They dragged my sandwich through all the slop from every other sandwich they'dmade and the bread was nasty and soaked. The line was horrendous. after they handed me my soaked nasty sandwich in a brown paper bag I had continue to wait in the line to pay. Before I could get to the cash register my nasty soaked sandwich had soaked the paper bag, ripped through and fallen to the floor and exploded. Luckily one of the workers saw this and made me another. They also dragged my sandwich through the slop of all the other sandwiches and then handed me a new one. I held the bottom of the bag with some napkins after learning from last time. I paid my 8.50 for a sandwich soaked in crap I didn't want and won't be returning again.

Spicy Pickle ain't bad. Neither is Panera. Panera rules for good, cheap eats.

WEN Wendy's says it is not the source of the foreign object found in a bowl of its chili (38.55 -0.44)

Co comments on the police investigation into the recent incident involving a finger found in a bowl of chili. Co says its brand reputation has been affected nationally. Co says there is no credible evidence that Wendy's is the source of the foreign object. Co notes that the claimant is no longer pursuing a claim against Wendy's, and her original attorney is no longer representing her. Co notes that this individual has filed several lawsuits against other organizations in recent years.

Wendy's doubles chili finger reward to $100,000
    ================================================== ==========

    Fri Apr 15, 2005 04:48 PM ET
LOS ANGELES, April 15 (Reuters) - Wendy's International Inc.

Quote, Profile, Research) on Friday doubled to $100,000 the reward it is offering for information on the origin of a human finger found last month in a bowl of chili at one of its restaurants.

In a statement, Wendy's President and Chief Operating Officer Tom Mueller said the company's franchisees and employees have "done nothing wrong, yet they are paying a severe price with sales down significantly" in the San Jose, California, area where the incident occurred.

Some of the franchisees have laid off workers or reduced workers' hours, the company said.

"Our brand reputation has been affected nationally," Mueller added. "We are determined to find out what really happened in this incident."

Wendy's has said repeatedly that its own investigation into the matter found no evidence of any finger or hand accidents among any of its workers or suppliers. The workers also passed lie detector tests, the company said on Friday.

Anna Ayala, the woman who said last month she found a finger in her bowl of Wendy's chili, is no longer pursuing a legal claim against Wendy's, the company said, citing media reports. She is also no longer being represented by San Jose personal injury attorney Jeffrey Janoff, who had been handling her case, his office said on Friday.

Ayala could not immediately be reached for comment.

Media reports last week said Ayala's home in Las Vegas was searched by the police as part of the investigation into the incident. San Jose police officials said a search warrant had indeed been issued but declined to give further details on either the location or outcome of the search.

    Yep Salvaggio's.

Try Snarfs if you're in Boulder.

I made the mistake of getting a 'classic Italian' at Quiznos the other day when I was in a hurry. What a fucking mistake. Same story as Barnballs relates. A few years back they were way better; at least passable. This sandwich I got the other day SUCKED, and I didn't even mind the olives. What kind of lame ass meat are they buying. I shoulda gone to Snarfs.

Agreed, the Grove is silly, silly I tell ya. The Mediterranean Deli isn't bad either, located at 39th and State, give em a try sometime. (Although, the sandwiches are a bit smaller and more expensive lately.)

The thing I actually like about Quiznos is that you can get a small sandwich that tastes good but is like 350 calories. But what kills me is that despite the fact that they have new employees every week or two, they're consistently among the stupidest people on the planet. And they can't tell the difference between banana peppers, green peppers and jalapenos, and occasionally the sandwich doesn't actually have any of the ingredients involved in the sandwich I ordered either. It's tough work, apparently.

Lately I just go and buy stuff from the deli at Wild Oats. Where the employees consistently manage to give me what I ordered, which I appreciate. The Einstein's next to my office gets frequented too...

while nearing a TKO for being a chain, fontano's isn't too bad (right across from chipotle 16/Cali). The bread is too hard (by just a hair) but their combo sammy with provo & hot peppers is mass mess good.

    salvaggios/snarfs: truely excellent eateries.

Pickle aint' bad just not good.

Heidie's does indeed suck hippie cock.

Vote #2 for Togo's, if there's one near you.

If there isn't, my pick is for Port o' Subs over Subway or Quiznos or Blimpie or Schlotzky.

There's always "two all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on a sesame seed bun."

You poor, deluded, half-wit. Fontano's blows.

Far, far better, around the corner on 17th Street is Mendelson's, owned by a true blue New Yorker. First time I went in there and ordered a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich on a kaiser roll, the dude looked right at me and knew I was from NY. I asked him why they didn't carry cappicola anymore and he very sadly told me, "Hey man, this is Colorado, they don't know it, they fear it."

Still, one of my favorite sammiches is a good old fat gyro. Lucky for me, Falafel King has two downtown locations. Lucky for Falafel King, I eat there at least once a week, sometimes more.

EDIT: before you write off Heidi's, try their meatloaf sanguich.

Parisi Bakery on Mott Street in Little Italy. Used to live two blocks from there, the Godfather was a fine sandwich. Not to be confused with the Parisi Bake shop on Mott above Houston, which is just where they make all their bread.

    And the answer is Blimpy's.
actually I'm just making up the Blimpy's part, as I haven't been there for ten years and don't remember how it was.
