well i figure this forum would be the best place to ask since those checking it have some interest in the bc so....

anyone down for an early to mid may trip to the la sals? probably just a 2 or 3 day trip of hitting up some of the better lines they have to offer. i don't know the area down there and i haven't even started planning yet but i just wanted to throw the idea out. i'll start checking the layering out there but i'd like things to solid up a bit before heading to the continental steeps.

any suggestions on lines to hit or peaks to bag?

i'm down... can only ski sun/mon of said weekend, but the 8/9 would work well for me.

Gold Basin is the easiest access from Geyser Pass. You skin in a few miles on a road, into the basin. From there you can ski Tuk, Peale, etc. All the big ones.

Or you can ski 3 miles to Geyser Pass along the road, then another 1.5 to the Tomasaki Hut. From the hut you can ski Tomasaki Peak or Mt. Mellenthin.

From the Dark Canyon hut side you can also ski the massive Mt. Peale (n. face?). It is like K2 of N. America. 3k of vert, all above treeline, some sick couloirs to exit.

Most of the La Sals are about 2,500 verts above the broad plateua at 10k. They are all huge, wide open monsters. May is a good time to hit 'em.

APD: don't know if you are still going, but i am pretty gimped still. do you have a date in mind yet?

haven't set a date. i'd like to get what i can around here first and then look at the la sals. plus, i'd be nice to let the snow pack settle down first so the steeps are an option.

edit: looks like things will be wet here for the next week or so. i'll be hanging out here for a while.
