Skylark Lounge? Gimme a fucking break, that place was empty as fuck most nights and full of some pretty boring douches (myself included). I lived a couple blocks from there.... that South Broadway zone is hipster central, but in a wannabe kind of way.

Denver is full of so many Midwest transplants that want to try soooo hard to not seem like they're from the Midwest. It seems like they either choose the hipster route or go full on nuts with trying to be a pretend mountain person. So many of the Front Rangers are gear junkies, slap a few stickers on your car & water bottle type people who, in reality, only go skiing 10 days a year and camp a couple holiday weekends over the summer.

On the good side, it's waaaay better than most other large cities, but it's still a city that seems to be trying too hard.

Right that - Approximately one-third of Denver's population consists of Hispanics or Latinos.

Funny when white people in the west use their Mexicans to pull the diversity card. I think that's like ten percent of our stew.

Denver has a great old school rap station with no commercials, that's better than hot 97 in NY

I imagine a bunch of white kids in old civics with beer can exhausts and body work and rims wearing those sideways baseball caps tuning in.

Flights at Great Divide make for a great evening.

That video doesn't even mention the amazing Renaissance around and in Union Station. That part of LoDo is fucking cool now and I love some of the new architecture around town (new train station, museum lofts, Taxi buildings).

Oh, yes you do... I thought you were moving to Scummit? You're gonna fit right in here. When you go to the Rockies games, be sure to cheer super loud when they get to the part in the song where all the Denverites scream "FROM THE MOUNTAINS"..

Is there a difference between the two? Honest question.

I thought hispanics were people of latin decent who speak spanish, and latinos were people of latin decent who pretend to speak spanish and overaccentuate their pronunciations of spanish words. Ie. "I'm going to taco bell to get a burrito...

I thought it was like squares and rectangles - all squares are rectangles but not all rectangles are squares. All Latinos are hispanic, but not all hispanics are latinos, since some might be from Spain (or Portugal, or Brazil.)

That's how it is listed on the city/county demographics based on the census. Here is an article I found on the subject:

Hispanic vs. Latino: what’s the difference?

AUGUST 7, 2013 BY SANDRA FERNANDEZ

Many people use Hispanic and Latino as interchangeable words. They’re not. While there is a huge overlap between the two, they don’t mean the same thing and cannot be used as if they do. This is an easy mistake to make, and I do it myself every once in a while (often from laziness), but it’s important to note the differences.

    Hispanic refers to language.
    Latino refers to geography.

Basically, you are Hispanic if you and/or your ancestry come from a country where they speak Spanish. You are Latino if you and/or your ancestry come from a Latin American country.

But wait… isn’t that the same thing?
    No, dear friend, it’s not.

Hispanic excludes the nearly 200 million Brazilians who, while accurately labelled Latinos, speak Portuguese. They are Latinos, they are not Hispanic.

Hispanic includes the nearly 50 million Spaniards (population of Spain) who could never be called Latinos.

When picking which one to use you have to know what you’re trying to say. For HispanicHouston.com we used language as the guide, and we ended up with Hispanic instead of Latino. A weird decision if you consider that we also decided not to have the site in Spanish. (But that’s another soapbox for another day.)

So, as a Mexican American, I am Hispanic and Latina. Brazilian Americans are Latinos but not Hispanic. And, Spanish Americans are Hispanic but not Latinos.

Is that clear as mud now?

Pretty soon, you won't even be able to refer to people from Scotland as "English"...

Latino women are generally hotter than Hispanic women

This is one of the more enjoyable "is this place cool?" Threads and one of the few that hasn't descended into total chaos. Subscribed.

Denver is to Jackson Hole like NYC was to NH growing up. It's that legit city that's just close enough to be technically within reach but you never go to, but occasionally the city that's within reach (SLC/Boston) is so underwhelming that you're enticed to make the journey.

That being said, if I'm really dying for culture here id probably just fly to San Fran.

For once and for all, I am not "moving" to Colorado. I am just spending a few months there. The best months.

I hope that was sarcasm, as if you say that in a Scottish pub, I am pretty certain you will be fighting every Scot there.
Never in U.S. history has the public chosen leadership this malevolent. The moral clarity of their decision is crystalline, particularly knowing how Trump will regard his slim margin as a “mandate” to do his worst. We’ve learned something about America that we didn’t know, or perhaps didn’t believe, and it’ll forever color our individual judgments of who and what we are.
