Hopefully things will change with new management at Magic. The place is a gem and deserves to shine. And for the effort you've put in there my friend you deserve more! Looking forward to work days and Ullrfest! And more time at Magic this winter with the wife and kids! Stoked!

Edit - not sure if you're talking about Magic SP or NSP? If NSP, ... good luck with that.

    See you all soon!

Answer is probably no, but is there any update yet? The timeline I heard most recently (10 days ago) is that the close should be in the next week or two (basically inspections were/are still being done). All other info is the same as everyone already heard: group headed by long time Magic guy will own/operate, GM is set (name rhymes with staff away), and both lifts already passed inspection and will be running (as needed) this winter. No one seemed to know about any new operating schedule or anything like that, but most important fact (aside from the simple fact of being open) seems to be new availability of capital for ops/upgrades.

Previous head of ski patrol has been fired and banned for life.

One of the above statements I made up and probably isn't true (is it?).

Pete Rose seems like a huge asshole, but he's got nothing on our guy. Would assume the new guys have to dump him if they have half a clue.

That's one of the rumors I'm hearing but it might just be wishful thinking.

    Is it this one?

I'm really excited for the winter. I'm moving the weekend for the first work day, so I probably won't make it, but I hope to be up soon after.

There is no reason both lifts will not be operating this year. TB got the condemnation order on Black lifted (it was ridiculous).

I've got DoWork's plan so if you want to come up any weekend but the 1st work day weekend, PM me.

At least thwre is that. One of my clients that I like has their annual meeting October 17. So, yet again, I am fucking out.

Also, the wife squeezed out another monster son... pretty sure it is mine. Our mobility continues to decrease. If anyone down here wants to get lost in the low angle hardwoods at Whitetail then PM me...

My in-laws just moved to FL and used the auto train which leaves out of one of the Amtrak station's in Virginia. You just show up, drive your car onto the train, go to your cabin and hang out overnight and bam, you're in Florida. Still requires getting car and in-laws to Virginia, but that's a hell of a lot better than going all the way to FL.

Does anybody know who steamboat1 is and why he has this opinion?

I called him on it but was wondering if there is more to the story.

He's probably getting Magic confused w/ the Hermitage. Happens a lot.

For those of us not in the know and casual Magicians like myself, what's the latest on the new owners? When will the reveal be?

It's true. I'm pretty sure one of Hans' ski instructors fucked his wife or something, dude has a perpetual hard-on for Magic like I've never seen. From flat out making shit up and posting it anywhere he can to wild assumptions about the place to make it sound bad- and the guy even admits to only having been there twice since reopening. The guy is a complete troll kook. If you have an Epic handle, I'd advise logging on and DON'T GET SUCKED INTO HIS BULLSHIT but definitely calling him out a bit, pointing and laughing- and posting good time stoke to bury his ridiculous negativity. I honestly don't know why he hates the place with such zeal but it's pretty funny to watch. Dude makes Benny look like a well-adjusted person.

Btw, while I was hobnobbing with the 1% this summer in Nantucket, I noticed the Hermitage opened a 'discovery' center downtown.

I'm curious if the new owners have any plans for something similar?

I think they're setting it up at the Co-op City Yacht Club.
