Slap those skins on, it's all about the uphill!

More seriously, I wouldn't be too worried that season passes aren't on sale yet. In past years, the early season pass sale revenues went to pay off the previous years debt. Consequently, no money was left to do summer upgrades and early season snow making. The fact they weren't forced to sell passes this spring has me optimistic that Tom broke the cycle of debt.

But it makes me wonder whether there will be *any* early purchase discount. Not that it matters for me personally as I don't have enough $$$ in the bank to buy one at any price.

^Best answer Magicsnowboard. Think out of the box Magic thinking here. If anything made perfect sense, nobody would know what to do. JGB, buy some sleds though. I will ride them with you. Before & after Red Chair lapz.

When the time comes, you guys will be updated.

Indeed. Mud season = vacation season in ski country too. Half the state's infrastructure goes dark for the month of May lol... In terms of discount, I know Tom wasn't happy about the last increase in ticket price at all which bodes well for next season's rate in any case. I have to get up there soon anyways to grab a bunch of stuff I left behind, I will see what I can figure out while I am there.

Hoping for the best, but planning for the worst.

Looks like a couple of decent sleds on a trailer can be had for <$10k, which makes getting some snowmobiles an interesting idea...

I very pleased to report that my cancercation is coming to end. I will be starting a new full time IT position on June 1. Which means now I am quite interested in whatever discounted season pass might be on offer.

Just read the following post on a non-ski forum to which I belong. If I wasn't banned from posting there, I would respond...

"I learned to ski at Bromley over 30 years ago, it will always hold a special place in my heart because of this. It is a terrific family based mountain, we enjoy taking our kids there now. Of course there are better mountains Stratton for the gapers and Magic is near by but there needs to be some serious snow in southern VT to make Magic worth it (was it even open this year)? It's so close to NY that I'm sure the weekends are a fiasco. Plan a midweek if you have kids and just want to make some turns the mountain faces the sun all day, if not head further north. 2 for $71 bucks every Tuesday is hard to beat they also used to do $14 lift tickets on Valentines day don't know if that still goes on."

Thanks! Yes, I will once more be a productive member of society. Slightly ambivalent about that part of it. But regular $$$ in the bank will definitely help!

Hopefully I can get past the "new guy" syndrome before the snow flies and figure something out for at least a few powder days.

I've had a few chats with Tom Barker recently. The holdup on pass sales is due to him looking for a less intrusive processing fee. He's definitely planning to move forward with significant upgrades this summer including ensuring the Black Chair is certified early and starting to move the unfinished chair to the Rabbit Run area. He's being realistic and doesn't think there's any way Rabbit Run will be ready for 15-16 season but should be ready for 16-17.

Great news on all fronts Get Amped.

Walked around the lodge area on Saturday and it looks better than it has in the previous 3 summers I have been around.

Back to being a full-time resident of the 802 although our weekday address is in the BTV area. Amazing what a job change can do for your mental well-being. Hope to see some of you goons this summer for a little pruning....

    As it should be.

I have got to get my ass back up there. Major shittiness back at home has kept me close but I'm really looking forward to getting back up there for a hike. Who else is planning on heading up there for the 4th? I'd like to powwow on some ideas, go for a stroll and maybe whack some flora. Any takers?

DoWork, we'll be around from Thursday night to Monday afternoon. I'm ready for a stroll up the hill. I have some ideas on what needs immediate attention.

In the plans for the weekend are a kayak trip down the Battenkill, a big fire at our next door neighbors' on Friday night, the awesome Londonderry 4th of July parade on Saturday, and streaming the last 3 Grateful Dead shows on my deck.
