Christian Pondella does it and likes it. Never tried myself.

I dont think the FR will change the ski much, I've got a pair of spats with alpine and one with tele. Ski about the same.

Since they are decambered, wouldn't only a small patch of skin contact the snow on packed skintracks? I'd imagine this would have a very negative affect on climbing, as fewer hairs would be gripping the snow.

BumZ does it. They're kind of heavy (surprise!), he has some trouble on steeper sections and they make him swear a lot on steep switchbacks.

For the shorter yo-yo tours, he thinks it's worth it.

I talked to a guy at Mammoth who had Spats with FR. He said he was really happy with them. I also talked to an employee of Mammoth Mountaineering a day or two later. He said he knew of several people who toured on them and loved them. He said it wasn't the best ski on the way up mainly due to weight, but very worth it on the way down. I will say this, there is no better ski for breaking trail. You don't have to pick them up at all. You just slide forward and the reverse camber does its magic.

Heli Tele is the only way to go.

Plenty of peeps in Tahoe tour on tele Spats, they're basically great for breaking trail, but not for for steep switchbacks (as said above). I'm pretty sure this topic has been discussed, try searching.
