Hockey how it was meant to be played.

    Sort of.
That outdoor show yesterday was sweet. Brought a smile to my face and a happy feeling to my heart.

Sick and ashamed and happy (and does anyone else think Wayne was drunk while giving his post-game interview?),

Not drunk, just giddy...Nice to see that #99 where it belongs, on an Oilers jersey.

Does anyone think he wasn't? Really those guys get together after all this time and bang a puck around. I'm guessing there was a beer and some champagne waiting when they finished. Those guys could tip a few pretty good back when they were playing.
It's not so much the model year, it's the high mileage or meterage to keep the youth of Canada happy

Pissed that I couldn't see that in the US... well, with out getting NHL Center Ice. I got it for the past 3 years because I was just outside of Devils TV coverage. Now that I moved farther North in NJ, I get Devils + Rangers + Islanders + Flyers + ESPN games (i.e. Detroit and Colorado)...

...although when I channeled surfed yesterday for the outdoor game and didn't find it, I nearly dropped the 100 bones right then!

Man that game brought on the nostalgia! Just having those guys all wearing oiler’s jersey’s again… Hell, I remember the “glory days” of the Oil, and I was 4 when Wayne was traded. Still hate Pocklington…

Did anyone catch the Michigan-Michigan State game a few years ago that was played in the football stadium at Ann Arbor? Classic game and largest crowd to watch a hockey game (over 100,000)

In my humble estimation, college hockey is the best spectator sport. My baby sister just started at Colorado College, now my trips to visit her include CC hockey games and Pallavincini laps. Hot.

I believe that estimation is a touch high. 76,000 and some odd hundred is what I recall. Very impressive nonetheless, and probably an inspiration for the NHL version, which, incidently, is apparently inspiring other teams to have a look (will depend on how the books balance of course).

Sick and ashamed and happy (and if Edmonton had a bigger stadium, that record would have fallen (kinda ties into my College sports thread a few days ago - US colleges/universities have bigger stadiums than Canadian pros)),

The game was played in East Lansing, not Ann Arbor. Just had to clarify that fact as an MSU alumni

The next big spectacle similar to this is the MSU-Kentucky basketball game that will be played at Ford Field in Detroit on December 13th. They expect 75,000 for that one!
