Got the call that my Aunt passed from a rare form of bone tissue cancer. She had a major surgery that she was recovering from and then they found the cancer. Did the chemo etc and went for a checkup scan. Numerous more cancerous masses. Apparently a very aggressive form and she prob would've been bedridden and had a shitty quality of life. Still sucks. After my dad passed from a very "rare" form of Parkinsons I'm getting sick of hearing about rare forms of disease.

    Fuck Cancer.

Sorry about your aunt and your friend.

Looks like my dad's PET scan at 30 days from CAR-T infusion returned good news. He hasn't had his official meeting with the doctor but the radiology report, and a message from one of the docs indicates a complete response to the treatment. He still has some health issues to deal with, 10 days in the hospital right before Christmas kicked his ass. Still it's a relief, even tentatively since there are more scans to come. He'll probably still miss the ski season but that's minor.

Cancer anxiety is hard, if not impossible to shed. As a cancer "survivor" myself, I struggle with it every day of my life, sometimes hourly. Day by day is the mantra, but it's really hard to not look at the future and worry. "Survivor" seems like such a stupid word, but I guess you gotta call it something. Kinda feels like getting all your extremities blown off, but at least you're alive?

Wish you, your dad, and loved ones the best.

I second that ^^, I go for a scheduled follow-up tomorrow. I have no reason to think anything's wrong, I feel pretty good, actually.

    Nervous af anyways.

I lose my mind refreshing my phone on the patient portal app waiting for scan results. Scanxiety is brutal. Wish you well tomorrow.

Day 30 complete response to CAR-T is an excellent indicator for favorable long-term prognosis.

Did he get Yescarta or Breyanzi?
