Checking in to the kicking cancer thread. The wife has stage one. We caught it early. Two surgeries later we are about to go down the dark dark road to recovery. Chemo starts soon.

This looks like the real deal--fucking cancer good.

cancer treatment that seems to meaningfully extend life for advanced lung cancer patients. Now we just have to figure out how to pay $100,000/yr for the very large number of people with the condition.

Pembro is indeed the real deal. It has definitely shifted the curve--I have patients s/p pembro who I'm still seeing in palliative clinic years later. Crazy.

PM me if I can help in any way. I'm midway through second round of chemo. Exercise and hydration are keys to success, as well as good sleep and support.

Durable responses. Still addresses too few patients. But we're on the right track with immuno oncology though.

Fuck, F#*k, that sucks, but it's always better to catch it early. Best wishes to your family. This is a pretty good place to get advice and support.

Best wishes for your wife, FYC. As someone said to me here a while back: welcome to the club of survivors. With any luck at all it's already gone and the chemo is just overkill. Obviously I know nothing of hers, but for me surgery was a much bigger deal than chemo. She may have the hard part behind her. Hope it goes well!

Cancer week 2 update. The news just got worse. My wife is no longer stage 1. She is at stage 3b. Which means 18 weeks of Chemo every 3 weeks. The news has hit me - us pretty hard. We are working on setting up a trust to protect her investments. I have been telling my local friends what is going on. I keep missing SFB - I get it it is spring and he is busy fishing.

    Chemo starts May 8

anyrate my outlook just got crushed with the news.

HMS and I went through the exact same diagnosis process, and that part was a crusher. Continually getting worse news is rough. When we finally got PET scan results that told us we weren't Stage 4 (only 3C), we were incredibly happy. We're 12 weeks into chemo now, starting to see the light at the end. She's actually done very well for the most part, better than expected. Go in strong as possible, keep as active as possible, and liberally use THC. Best thoughts to you.
