chunk of change for an officer beaten by other officers.

He has as much chance of getting that money as Fred Goldman or E. Jean Carroll
An incident of District Attorneys behaving badly and officers acting with a restraint regular people would likely not have been afforded
Any regular person would have been tased. Any POC would have been shot
I’d wager a lot that that woman was a DUI and that’s why she was acting like that. She should 100% lose her job
it was so hard to watch them not breathalyze her

Small town Oregon Police Chief confesses to taking drug evidence from city’s storage lockers.
Provides totally implausible explanation that he destroyed it to protect the health of the city’s pregnant evidence tech.
Gets 10 days in jail and awarded a workers comp claim for PTSD
https://www.oregonlive.com/crime/202...e%20confession.
My guess - he was trading the meth he stole for opioids
I’d go further and say he was pinching to bring down the weight of evidence, because he’s probably on the take. Familia Michoacán has a pretty big representation in Tillamook for a small place. They stay behind the scene but they’re there for sure.

Seems like he should get more than 900k for going through that nightmare. WTF
I remember watching a Frontline episode years ago that profiled a few different people who were trying to get themselves out of prison after having been pressured into giving false confessions for serious crimes (rape and murder IIRC). The wife was also watching and just couldn't understand how it was possible to confess to a crime like that if you didn't do it. I argued that if I put you in room long enough with a determined cop they could get you to confess to killing yourself. Getting someone to confess to murdering a person who is still alive would seem to prove my point.
Agreed that $900k seems awfully light.
This cop is in the running for Trump's running mate

Fucking Tackleberry
SOP for them w POCs. Now you’re getting it!
It’s going to be interesting to see how this goes down. The police blamed the school district last night, saying they were supposed to tell the kids what was happening prior to the class.
This is the same department whose chief tried to arrest an ER doc who was trying to save the life of a shooting victim. When the citizens wanted more oversight, the police essentially stopped working allowing crime to spike. Apparently their contract allows them to decide what shifts and areas to work so they stopped staffing weekend late night downtown. The city just elected a progressive mayor in a race where oversight of the police was a big issue. Earlier this week she said she was going to reappoint the chief, this may change that.
