Anyone else just watching that cnn debate between Don lemon and sheriff Clark? Haha holy shit that black sheriff was losing his mind and refusing to stop shouting, they had to go to break till he calmed down about his insinuation that BLM caused the recent police shootings. Fox news watcher for sure

Nation of Islam crazy ranting shooter... Not shocked.

Real heartbreaking piece on the black cop killed by him today. His thoughts just days prior to being killed are awful to read/hear

Is there a consensus as to the number of shooters in Louisiana today?

I hear a reference to (They) and Him. Seems to go back and forth.
    They are just not sure?

Police union begs Kasich to ban open carry in Cleveland for the RNC, Kasich says no. I really want to ask my family members who constantly post pro-gun and pro-police memes what their stance is on this.

Does the, "guns aren't bad they are just a tool that are sometimes used by bad people" theory hold up in practice? Why don't you support police officers and want to make their job harder?

I think open carry toolbags do more harm than good to their cause. I have no doubt that it would make sense in the wake of recent events to not allow open carry, or any carry period in Cleveland. (I don't own guns and don't really care about gun nutters) What interests me is how none of the reports on this story have mentioned the actual Ohio Constition on the matter - maybe it's the lawyer in me, or maybe it's just easier and makes better headlines to create another us vs them topic to froth upon for the next few days.

Article 1 of the Ohio Constitution specifically limits the right to suspend laws to the legislature: "No power of suspending laws shall ever be exercised, except by the general assembly."

Re open carry and the banning of protests and marches near the convention center--why do we enforce the Second Amendment (however wrongly the current court has interpreted it) but not the First? Are a bunch of protesters more dangerous than one crank with a gun?

For light reading on the subject look up 100 years of Supreme Court opinions on limited time and place restrictions on the first amendment.

Nah--I'll just follow the lead of the gun nuts and say the first amendment means whatever I want it to mean.
Obviously there are some restrictions on free speech--yelling "fire" in a crowded theater, blah, blah, blah. My point is the ostensible reason for a restricted zone around the convention center is security--so if it is legitimate to limit access to protestors in the name of security it should be equally legitimate to limit open carry. In any case it's probably not a good idea for black people to try to open carry near the convention center (or anyplace else). Just more evidence that the NRA runs things in this country.

Nooooo, they need to have decreased responsibility and more focus on how they impact their communities. Like this:

Brown told the Latino civil-rights group, "Requiring police to enforce federal immigration law undermines the trust and cooperation of immigrant communities, which are essential elements of community oriented policing."

He added, "Removing fear of deportation from the equation will improve public safety by allowing anyone, even undocumented immigrants, to emerge from the shadows and report crime."

Because illegal immigration is a violation only of civil law, Brown said, "Immigration is not a criminal issue. Local police should no more enforce immigration law than it would enforce tax laws."

He said lingering fear that police somehow will report undocumented immigrants simply creates more crime and more victims.

"Criminal activity thrives on the weak, the scared, the marginalized — those we are charged to protect. When criminals know their victims are afraid or unwilling to cooperate with police, they act with impunity," he said.

    and this:

A Roswell pastor said a police officer was fired on Thursday after the Roswell Police chief received a complaint that a Confederate flag was flying outside the officer’s house where an official police vehicle was parked in the driveway.

"There is no evidence black males are treated differently than any other group" was oneach of his statements. To believe that statement, you must be ignorant or willfully obtuse.

He cited this article as his evidence, https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...=.cf95220dd20d

"White people make up roughly 62 percent of the U.S. population but only about 49 percent of those who are killed by police officers. African Americans, however, account for 24 percent of those fatally shot and killed by the police despite being just 13 percent of the U.S. population. As The Post noted in a new analysis published last week, that means black Americans are 2.5 times as likely as white Americans to be shot and killed by police officers."

There is also copious data showing that back people are pulled over more, cars are searched more, are arrested more for the same contraband, and receive harsher sentences.

Would you care to offer anything to defend your statement that everything he said was true?

You seem very solution oriented. Any thoughts on a judge saying this?

One Orleans Parish criminal court judge told us that “[i]f you are a black teenager and grew up in New Orleans, I guarantee you have had a bad incident with the police.”

Busybody paranoid neighbor calls the cops because there is a suspicious (black) man scoping out the neighborhood.

Turns out it's a grandfather from India visiting family and is out for a walk.

Goon 1 and Goon 2 quickly assess that he is dangerous and "take him to the ground" (or as a reasonable lay person would understand, body slammed to the ground, ie. assault)

This incident took place over a year ago and finally came to trial.

Hey birdman, don't go away mad. Your post was so wrong it was funny. I'm old enough to be your grandfather, love to meet new people, ski like crap and I live in a van down by the river. Put that together with your previous post and you had a perfect score of zero.

Nice deflection, but just goes to show everyone here what a fucking tool bag you are. Maybe go post over on some right wing bird killer forum is a better call for you???
Never in U.S. history has the public chosen leadership this malevolent. The moral clarity of their decision is crystalline, particularly knowing how Trump will regard his slim margin as a “mandate” to do his worst. We’ve learned something about America that we didn’t know, or perhaps didn’t believe, and it’ll forever color our individual judgments of who and what we are.

Mass., N.H. troopers arrested in connection with May chase

A TV helicopter camera caught troopers moving in on Simone, who had exited his pickup and then was apparently assaulted by troopers while he appeared to be compliant and in the process of being arrested. Simone had led troopers on a multi-state chase from Holden to Nashua, N.H.

credit for bringing the charges tho - if only it wasn't an anomaly
