I don't understand why cases like this one, where potential douche bag, running from cop, or Ferguson douche bag looking for trouble, become the champions of police brutality and human rights violations. Not saying they deserved what they got, but there are plenty of other cases where there are no arguments for what they got.

The only reason deadly force is EVER justified is in the defense of a life. Someone running away is not a threat, unless they're running to attack someone which this cop has absolutely no reason to believe is what this guy is doing.

If the cop was 300 pounds Iike many I could understand not wanting to run after this guy and shooting him first to even the race, but this is not the case here.

The danger has gone down dramatically in recent decades, and there is absolutely no statistical backing for the argument that police work is more dangerous than it used to be. What's worse for the bootlickers is that most are incapable or unwilling to analyze the country's issues from an objective, data supported point of view. So the misconduct and firings/prosecutions of blue will likely increase before they decrease.

A traffic stop isn't even remotely considered as a possible life or death confrontation most other places in the developed (or even undeveloped world) though.

Cops in this country are fucking nuts... I had an off duty SPD cop who was working parking lot access for a building owner put his hand on his taser yesterday when I hit the horn after he'd kept me waiting for 6 cars (and two green lights) to come out of the parking garage.

Then a block further in downtown Seattle three Homeland Security Cops walking along the sidewalk drinking Starbucks dressed like they're ready to invade Yemen after fast roping out of a Stealth helicopter.

Let me rephrase. Being a cop the most dangerous job - To Us. Which is the real concern to me. Because of ever increasing mental cases on the loose, Crazy Drug de Jour, More poor under more pressure with more guns on everyone, a cop today is on high alert for larger portion of his day. Edgy cops=itchy trigger fingers. My nephew left a Game Warden job with all of the outdoor perks the become a cop in a small city in Utah. Said it had better hours and would be much safer. EVERYONE he stopped as a warden was armed and. I should give him a call for his insight.

You might as well have tossed an M-80 out your window to get his adrenaline to spike and notice you. A car horn has to be the most unnatural sound in the Emerald City. In total, the suicides per year are pretty close to overall officer deaths in the line of duty. And many deaths in the line of duty are preventable. The most recent police death in the line of duty was a freshman who flipped his car trying to administer a traffic violation. Take the shitty police decision making out of this situation and nobody dies.

Police Officer Juandre Gilliam was killed in a crash during a vehicle pursuit at approximately 10:30 pm.

A vehicle he was attempting to stop for a traffic violation fled, and he pursued it onto St. Peter Street where his vehicle overturned near Route 182. Officer Gilliam was extricated from the vehicle and transported to Iberia General Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Both occupants of the vehicle, one adult and one juvenile, were arrested a short time later.

Officer Gilliam had served with the Jeanerette Police Department for two years but had only graduated from the police academy three weeks prior to the crash.

Well, I guess we just have to fire more bad cops and hire fewer bad cops. The one thing I hear very little of is what the good cops are saying. But they don't talk much on line to civilians I guess. From what I have heard is that a lot ore the result of poor decisions by cops with poor training.

The way the system is set up, very difficult to fire a bad cop. If it does happen, they will just get picked up by another department. Not to many good cops will take the risk to speak out against bad cops. Also the way the system is set up there are not enough consequences for bad behavior. Cops/lawyers/DA's/judges can be a pretty tight group. People are getting fed up with a lot of their bullshit. It's getting a bit tougher for them to justify their actions when caught on tape. Still long ways to go. They murdered Eric Garner. All caught on tape and they still got off.
