How would you feel it it was your 15 year-old daughter being treated like that?

She's not a criminal; just a kid freaking out. If the cops worried so much about her well being, why didn't they take her to the hospital?! Instead, they took her to police station. Bullshit.

    Seriuosly wtf,

Obtuse? Regardless of her possible medical condition, you are not allowed to leave the scene of an accident, that you are directly involved with, just because you dont want to get in trouble with your parents. The cops have every right to get your name. She was the one escalating. Pepper cop is still a dick for spraying.

    Are you a Nazi

Why do they need her name

What was the crime? Getting hit by a car?

Is the guy with the Chevy gonna collect money off a 15 year old in the hood?

She wasn't driving a car and no one knows what really happened. The driver might have pulled in front of her. Would she give her license and registration for her bike? This ignores the narrative that they were concerned about her well being and then basically assaulted her for what was maybe a simple misdemeanor at best. Do you expect a 15 yo girl who just collided with a car to show the same judgment and restraint as adult LEOs who have had training and are armed and charged with protecting public safety? The whole episode showed poor judgement on the police's side. To see it any other way just perpetuates the idea that we should all comply with anything an LEO orders us to do. This could have played out in a more peaceful way even with the girls poor behavior.

It goes both ways. I would be pissed as hell about the pepper spraying for sure. But guess what's going to happen when a judge looks at the body cam video. If she was just chill, gave her name, maybe let them check her out, or not, I doubt she would have been cuffed let alone sprayed. Either way, she was going to see her parents.
Yeah, I'd lay into my kid if they acted like that, but that's not the point. She's a 15 year-old kid, and these are supposed to be "profession" law enforcement officers. They escaladed the issue instead of defusing the situation. I have completely different expectations for a 15 year-old girl versus grown men who should be professionally trained to handle these kinds of situations.

At the end of the article the police are talking about insurance

    Lol
50% of drivers don't have insurance

The girl is riding a god damn bike

All they need to do is ask if she's ok and let her go about her kid business

I love how the cop keeps pressing the point about "maybe she could die around the corner, and we would be at fault"

When was the last time the cops have been concerned with physical health of citizens as opposed to worrying about their quickly evaporating legitimacy

If the cops were truly concerned about head injury they could have had the EMS who were on the scene do further evaluation. EMS know how to talk to people like they are human beings. All cops know how to do is provoke and escalate. The cops also should have tried to get her to give them a parent's phone number and have a parent there to help deal with it. And if you can't physically deal with a slight teenage girl without using pepper spray you need to go back to cop school.
Cops have to deal with people who are drunk, high, obstreperous, nasty, and just plain nuts. It's hard. The cops job is to not act the same way. I've seen it over and over in the ER. Belligerent patient, nurse calms them down, cop provokes them.

Just checking in to see how this cop hate circle jerk is progressing. Not suprising that no one is talking about that supposed cop murder of another innocent little 13% angel in Charlotte. Boy the 13% are showing thier true colors in this one. Nothing says Black Lives Matter more than black people killing other black people at a rally for a black man who was killed by another black man. And to boot the dead 13%ers own family lied about what they saw and started all the looting, stealing, raping, murdering, burning, assaulting, vandalizing, mob beatings of white people errr I mean protest. LMAO!!!!!!

    Police Behaving Badly

My house is a 1 min walk from the mayor of charlottes house. Had some protestors tonight. Was pretty lame, but at least my hood has protection from the dangerous skinny white kids protesting with what is now a constant CMPD presence. Just talked to two female cops who were profiling me for walking down my street. When I told them I was just trying to beat someone on my Fitbit challenge before the curfew, as well as the end of the work week challenge, they laughed and totally understood I just HAD to get my 10k in.

I've got video. What's the best anonymous way to post here? Don't want DD to call a hit on me.

Just reposting this. Didn't get much attention
    Police Behaving Badly
NC State trooper shoots deaf man in his driveway. Apparently the trooper had tried to pull victim over, but deaf victim didn't stop until he got home. Won't be any protests over this one.

The title of this thread is Police Behaving Badly, not Police Behaving Badly Towards Black People or White Police Behaving Badly.
While a lot of bad police behavior involves white cops against black victims due to either overt personal racism or institutional bias, certainly a lot of it does not. How the community responds is a separate issue. I respect black people who organize to protest when police violence affects black people. I think it is a shame that when the white people are the victims the victim or their family is usually on their own. We all should be outraged no matter the color of the victim or the officer and no matter what our color is.

except the white experience and the minority experience with law enforcement and the legal system are not remotely comparable.

Equality of experience is not the point. Injustice is injustice and needs to be called out for what it is. Hand wringing about whether it would have been different for someone else attempts to transform actual concrete fact into theoretical maybes and thus robs it of its relevance.

See how this post seems irrelevant? It's like that. Except it started out as a real event.

yes they trip on everyone, but it is, in my opinion, deluded or dishonest to suggest that the cops and the legal system have inflicted equal or remotely comparable harm across all demographics or that now tha white folks are worried, it doesnt matter that they ignored or cheered black people being fucked for generations. there is nothing theoretical about racial disparities in law enforcement actions and outcomes. sure, the.police have the power to abuse anybody and have demonstrated that but the abuse has been focused on particular groups as an extension of the state, particularly since the end of slavery. in that case, systematic abuse by police was applauded by whites as an extension of their political will. one could easily argue that one of the main reasons we are where we are in an expanding police state is because economically/politically active white people didn't think they had anything to worry about because they weren't experiencing daily abuse and in many cases were advocating abuse as the means to an end.

first they came for that sketchy looking dark-skinned dude...

18, Tom. What don't you get?

Why would ski patrol need a name? Shouldn't they be offering medical assistance and transport to the base if necessary?

Here's an idea that's already been posited, how about EMS looks to see if everyone is ok and not injured

Everyone's so nosey these days. What's your name? What do the signs say? Do I ignore the giant sign with dice? Do I read all the signs? No drinks at the pool?

As I said before, equality is not the point. Injustice implies inequality. There is nothing virtuous about improving a sociopath's victim selection methods. Or, as MLK said it "injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere." Outrage is easy but the problem will not be solved one demographic at a time. It's a cancer. It will come back. Since BLM will not succeed in eradicating the threat until the source is addressed, distractions from that goal are counterproductive and thus harmful to the black community. (Along with everyone else, of course, but worse for black people if your points are even half-true.)
